BBB 7
i always use chicken or oxtail soup for rat bait . work's great.. Quote Link to post
Guest hyperion
does any one know of a sent atractor for rats?? ive been thinking about boiling up bits of female rats to see if i can make something but ive not been brave enough to try it yet! Quote Link to post
BBB 7
rat's like other mammal's have scent gland's at the base of the tail. these are only visible during skinning 2 small yellow gland's about the size of a grain of sweetcorn. at the base of the tail around the arse. i skin stoat's and mink out remove the scent gland's put em in a jar pierce them so the musk comes out then i add a couple of table spoon's of cod liver oil. give it a stir ,put the lid on and stick it in the freezer. i bring it out when needed and use it as a draw on my tunnel trap's. i just use a pigeon's flight feather to spot it around trap entraces. work's great. i cant see why it wouldnt work on rat's. BUT who ya gonna get to skin the dirty focker's out. i'v skinned domestic rat's .but no way would i skin a wild un. Quote Link to post
victor 10
mixing oil essences or powdered spices (such as cinnamon) with flour and icing sugar. that is a rub i got of a site to trap possums, i gave the idea to a mate when he wanted to trap the, and he lives next to a primaly school and every 5 seconds the trap would be set off with a rat in it, and out with his denning jrt Edited September 6, 2008 by victor Quote Link to post
Guest hyperion
i dont mind skinning a wild rat! cant be any worse than a squirrel surely? hmmm i might try this thread in the trapping section! Quote Link to post
Molie1337 35
wild rats are MUCH worse than squizzers!!! for starters i eat squirrels, but i wouldnt ever dream of eating a rat! filthy dirty beasts, i only ever move them with a stick or pliers!! plus these scent glands are right near the arse end - as in where the wiels disease is carried in there piss. you sick bugger!! put up pics of a skinned wild rat! dare u!! and then put pics up of the liver dialisis when u get the yellows!!! Guest hyperion
im well aware of all the nasties that rats can carry but i reckon i might give it a go! after all skinning a rat hasnt got to be neat like a rabbit or squirrel, all i need to do is chop out the bits i need!
