And never wear sandals in the rain as yer feet will get wet Quote Link to post
HelenVF 0
or pointers let me have them spaniels don't point.. sorry lol. Although, my old springer used to back my pointers up. Joe Irvine's books are good for training gundogs. Might be worth getting a copy. Helen Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
Tony,What would you class as the strengths & weaknesses of the breed and do you ever use the dog with the gun? Hello Hywel I have only really ever used her with the Goshawks! she's a bit rangey but then again I think this is down to me and also can be as scatty as a springer being full of beans. what I like about her is how quick she will quarter compared to some more steady pointers I have seen, she covers ground pretty sharpish but can be a bit head strong which again is probably down to me. Her pointing instinct is very strong! as a pup she would come on point at anything includeing flys on the edge of her bowl , but now has a real scent for Gamebirds..... Jasper Jasper nice looking how old ? I must admit ESS compared to some Brittanies I have seen she is a pretty girl, she looks more like a springer than Brittany and lacks the real tufted up ears I have seen on others, she's now coming up to 3 years old.... HelenVF 0
oops forgot about the brittany but they aren't REALLY a spaniel. Nice looking dog. It is one of the few breeds I haven't seen working. Have heard a lot about them on a working hpr board and they are supposed to be quite hard work but I guess you could say that for most hprs. Helen I will have to agree there Helen . I must admit this dog at times it pretty frustrating and head strong, its also a bit Yappy around the house and litterally Barks if a car door is slammed way down the road , I have tried Bark Collars but nothing seems to work....
