maty j 6
I fancy trying making a few boilies and just wondering what flavours and mixes work best. I had a carp on tutti fruti and a crab yesterday so may get some tutti fruiti flavour?? I'll probably be using Mole catchers base mix but haven't a clue about dye, flavour, sweetener etc? I'll probably be trying strawberry, scopex, tuti fruiti or the proven old school flavours If anyone has got any proven mixes that I can try?? Cheers, Quote Link to post
Guest gazza
Hello there.im no expert on boilie making but have dabbled a fair few times. I found that when starting out its best to keep it simple rather than dive in head first. Try following some simple recipies such as on the back of mix packets. I would probably suggest more fruitier flavours rather than fishmeal this time of year, and err on the side of caution when measuring flavourings. start by adding less rather than more, and work from that. Also dont skimp on ingredients, if you buy the best youll have better results. A good bet this time of year will be a basic tutti or strawbery birdfood mix. Dont over complicate thins, when you get a mix that gives you results you can start to tweak and fine tune it. Aslo if it works dont be one of those twats that wont tell anyone what hes using....., thats just selfish he he he...... mainline flavours and addittives are spot on and glm liquid is also a must expensive but u only need a drop. maty j 6
Cheers lads. I was gonna get some mainline fusion liquid but think it only comes in base mix and then you still need some other liquid so It costs about 20 quid straight off!! If making strawberry for example would I just need the strawberry flavour and base mix or would I need sweetener and other stuff. Just wondering what to buy when I go down the tackle shop?? This was the fish that fell to the tuti fruiti boilie. No monster but welcome after a shit day of one missed run! Quote Link to post

maty j 6
Cheers Gaz. Can I mix the dip in to the base mix to make fusion boilies or just dip the ones I make before use?? The ones I'm using now are home made from the car boot and have tiny black bits in. What are these and what are they put in for. Non of the ritchworth boilies I have used had this in?? leegreen 2,173
Now I going to give you a tryed and tested recipie I don't carp fish much any more because it is soooo last season A six egg mix with a tin of anchovys and a couple of whole squid, liquidised, add some fruit flavor (we used to use peach don't remember which make)use the correct amount as stated on jar, add some flavor enhancer dont remember which one but think it was, no I can't remember and maybe if your feeling flush some green lip mussell extract (we used to get it from the health food shop. Mix all the ingredience with a fish meal base we used to get ours from manafacturer by the 20kg sack. Make your bollies how ever you do and submerge them in boiling water untill they float, then drain and dry over night, wallah! I think it is neccesary when using any new bait to do a certain amount of pre baiting before you fish. I think a few bait companys use similar mixes now but we were using this 15-20 years ago or maybe more and the addition of flavor enhancers only came about when they came out. We used to empty lakes it was top secret, so there you go its yours Quote Link to post
