dehoffmeister 2
got a great response to deep digs wat about handy ones when i first started doing terrier work for local pack we put one in let in old bitch 2 mins later herself and fox literaly came out of the side of the ditch wat happened was we marked him in a boggy ditch and while i was bringing in the gear the hounds had almost dug through to him in da pocket so when my bitch just pushed him through the thin layer of earth HOUNDS GOT THEIR REWARD Quote Link to post
Guest whitser
had a couple. one was, about 5 mins long. dig was about depth of the spade, too easy. but take the handy ones when you can, never know when you'll have a poxy one. Quote Link to post
jonesy 111
Easiest one was on a ash tip, hardly had to put any effort into it as was also only a spade full and i was through. Quote Link to post
smasher 1,055
My handiest was in an old stone wall, didnt even have to use a bar or spade, just had to take out one boulder and was right on top of the dog,to grips with his quarry, let him off for another day Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
Dug a brace at a foot deep in an earth near Dunshaughlin, Co.Meath many years ago. The amazing thing about this was that the earth was in a gate way that tractors used every day. How the occupants were never squashed I'll never know. Where we dug was in the wheel rut too. Guest Eamon.Mc
Here's 1 I had, box read 3 1/2 ft, broke through at 18 inches, 2 slaps with the shovel and was in, the tubes were like caves though which explained the reading on the box. I went on to dig another 1 in this earth at 4 ft, the box was'nt lying that time. Had quite a few handy digs between 1-2 feet. It's nice to get the handy 1s. Quote Link to post
Guest Dunna
I went for a walk with the 2 terriers tonight at 7.30. Drove 10 mins up the road, in the field for 7.45 and had the earth dug before 8 o clock. Less than a foot deep. Wasn't a test for the bitch but a nice handy one to get under the belt. Took no pics as i wasn't even expecting a dig Quote Link to post
Northsider 9
got a great response to deep digs wat about handy ones when i first started doing terrier work for local pack we put one in let in old bitch 2 mins later herself and fox literaly came out of the side of the ditch wat happened was we marked him in a boggy ditch and while i was bringing in the gear the hounds had almost dug through to him in da pocket so when my bitch just pushed him through the thin layer of earth HOUNDS GOT THEIR REWARD on a dig before and the dog settled at 12 foot we dug about 3 foot and whole thing collapsed in . When dust settled so to speak there was the quarry s eyes looking up at us . THATS WHAT I CALL HANDY Quote Link to post
