Whats the best thing

KAY never mind about silly bits of string and throwing dead rabbits around all you will end up with is a dog that thinks p[laying tug of war is fun and will bit down harder on his game to keep it in its mouth as you are forcing a retrieve which is never good .... get a rabbit skin and a sock fill the sock with some rags and something to add a bit of weight (some damp sand ) and wrap the skin aroud the sock ... now spend a day or 2 jsut teasing the dog with the skin and letting him mouth it when he gets to excited put it away ... stage 2 take the dog to somwhere where he cant get past you like an aleey way or country lane etc ... again play with the dummy and this time throwit a few feet away ... dog runs grabs the dummy and the only place he can go is either run away from you into the wild blue yonder or back towards you ... there is no chance of him running around with it ... if he is reluctant to retrieve turn your back on him and jog away calling his name ... when you hear him right behind you stop suddenly turn and grab hold of the dummy take it off him with a leave command or whatever and immedately fuss the dog or treat him or whatever works best for your dog .... using this method the dog will soon learn that retrieving is fun and gets him a reward without him doing laps of the garden or fields ..........
