How about a gundog dummy?

When she gets good you could tape a couple of Pheasant wings to it or wrap a rabbit skin around it

Butch

Right next silly question  where do i get one from , will an ordinary pet shop sell that sort of thing or do i need to go gun dog sites on the pc

Alot of Pet Stores sell them so take a look there...If not go to a Gun Shop.

now a days you should be able to get a dummy anywhere realy all thelocal pet shops and game shops around me sell them although you can get 2 at a game fair for the price of one from a shop. they usualy pick it up very quick in my experience and if im out ferreting etc i always give the dog a few retreves of one that iv already killed just so it gets the taste and the feel of things warm in her mouth.

Welll she has picked up dead rabbits , but they were not freshly killed , but she was very gentle with them & didnt try to re kill them

But i hope to eventually get her to pick up a live one, but obviously thats a different ball game & i dont know how she will react , but i will give it a go after she has worked with a dummy

I've always used the hardest rubber ball to start and then a gun-dog dummy, light in weight to start and then on to a heavier one Kay. What I found with Lily though was she progressed so quickly that I never used the heavier dummy as she just came back with a rabbit one morning that she had caught on her own
