marlin 44 carbine

Recommended Posts

I have had the pleasure of firing a Marlin .44 on the range once, What Fun!

I really did feel like John Wayne that day. Not that I was anywhere near the bullseye or hitting someone off their horse at 400 yards

But great fun and great shooting, One can only dream

thats excellent shooting ,card looks great in the frame . i have 2 marlin lever actions, one in .22rf,this was my favorite rabbit gun until the advent of 17hmr ,now ijust use it for plinking down the gun club . the other one is in 45/70 calibre, for those of you not familiar with this round it about the same size as your middle finger ,using modern loading data ,ihave used 50g of h4198 to push a 350g gas checked lead bullet out at 2000fps which translates to 3500ftlbs of energy .this load is shot standing up only, kicks like a mule but puts a big grin on the face of a big daft pratt like me. mag holds 4+1 by the time ihave rattled these off as fast as ican work it i have had enough but iam happy ,great fun..greasemonkey Edited by greasemonkey

Another round I have had the somewhat strange pleasure of firing is the .45-70

I was using a replica of a Sharps which belongs to a friend. He loads his using Black Powder though. Now that was fun :D

The Newbie next to me on the range was not best pleased when a four foot plume of white smoke blocked his next shot :whistling:

When I eventually get around to Target shooting again. It is one which I will be looking at ;)

Regards
