Beach fishing for bass....

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of information on how to use "Sidewinder" rubber sandeel type lures 4, 6, and 8 inch - new to beach fishing and can find no info on how they are used.

Do you use them from a boat, or can they be used like a pike plug/spinner??

Mr Crabtree, bless him, is a bit out of date.

Thanks in advance.

most people lure fish of rocks in to deep water useing plugs and spinners, rubber eels get used mostly of boats .If you do use them try to use the smaller size in to deep water .I used to fish of Aberthaw in South wales really rocky place and pretty shallow so we used to drill a hole through a few golf balls ram a swivel in then tie a rubber eel or jelly worm 2 foot down from that nice and cheap and great for bass.

Hello mate,

Use a for inch sidewinder i find the green or mint coloured ones work well, i use them straight through cast sink and draw slowly works a treat! try and find yourself a deep rock mark but be careful and wear a floatation suit if your climbing around deep water marks and let someone know where you've gone!

Good luck!

best place for bass in wales is by far the gower perinsular. you can fish on the causeway between the mainland and the island 'wormshead'(although its good fishing it can be a bit dangerous since the tide gos so fast) and rhossili beach is really good for bass in the surf with "maddys" basically tiny lil' ragworms wich you head hook and put loads on 1 hook. youve also got a chance off mullet and flatties in the surf there. also st.davids carfai bay has really good rock marks were peeler and rag work best. caught my first bass on the fly off wormshead.
