Decided on Connor....Didnt know the meaning until we checked in the books it meens" Lover of Hounds"....... Seems very apt as I'm sure he will follow his father in his love for dogs... mackem 26,168
Kids have to carry their names around like a weighty stone sometimes,my grandmother was called agnes, height of fashion back in the days but she always thought it was an ugly moniker, and told me if I ever have a daughter call her anything but aggie,I still shudder when I hear that name Connor is cool though
Guest foxyjo.
Smudge - That's lovely!! Connor is a great name and the meaning makes it all the more so. Good luck for the birth and make sure you look after Mrs Smudge afterwards - she's gonna need it!! All the very very best to you and yours.

mackem 26,168
Do you think kids need to fit into their names the way certain types of clothing seem to suit some individuals and not others? I have always had a name in my head for a daughter,I just havent been lucky enough to have one,but I wonder if she would suit it or vice-versa

mackem 26,168
My two boys named themselves virtually, names just came in a flash for reasons best known to myself,Garrick and Rief, but the girls name?Well, bad luck if I divulge it,I will tell you when/if I have one, sadly I dont think it will be with the current Mrs Mack as we appear to be experiencing major marriage-meltdown

BlueCoyote 0
i've always wondered how people named children.... i've owned a lot of animals over the years and it has taken days, or weeks, to come up with a name that suits the personality of the animal. and since i've been married(in regards to naming dogs!) it takes even longer to choose a name because my husband will disagree or want to add his choices.... even though i'm the only one taking care of the animals, he still wants an opinion.. so when i finally decided to have kids of my own i was worried about how to name them... the hospitals want you to choose a name ASAP i've always believed that a name is something you become.... and i always hated my mom for naming me Virginia for that reason... until i finally met my husband anyway now i tell everyone to call me Gin or Ginger... which is the same thing really but different! now... what about middle names?! whats the point and purpose and why do so many people feel a need to have them? my boys have middle names as well, but i doubt they'll ever be used!
