I recently rehomed an ex track grey called Hey Porter who had been in a domestic envirmoment for 9 months.

Any way I've introduced him to working life , and boy...I am impressed.

Having never been off his lead he works the lamp better than alot of lurchers Ive had.....and recalls immediately after a miss or when the laps turned off. - hes dosnt 'hunt up'.... He can turn a rabbits on a sixpence like he's done it all his life, and unbelievably quick off the mark.

I've hardly done any work with him really he just picked it up instinclively..........loves he does.

just got an annoying habbit if crunching any hedghogs he comes across.....not pretty

Makes me wonder if I've underestimated mine. She's just 2 now, and been with me a year. Sometimes I think she lives on a planet all by herself and is only interested in hunting my cat. But a few times now I've thought, maybe she'd be ok for lamping or something. She's daft as a bag of hammers, but I might give her a go just for fun and see what she does.

You said it perfectly Paul ... mine has just started to get excited when I come back after being out a while, or feed her, but otherwise she just kind of, I dunno, hangs around looking like a black, short eared Eeyore. She loves running and larking around when we're out tho. She's seen a few daytime bunnies and she lights up like a Christmas tree. Think I'll have to give her a proper go and see what she does.

If Paul has inspired any of you to take on a greyhound to try for yourself and you can offer it a permanent good home please feel free to PM me as I usually have greyhounds looking for homes

Paul, sounds like hes settled in well. Chaz, my old man is thinking of getting a dog soon and I'm pushing him down the retired greyhound route
