mate , in my opinion i think you should keep the dog away from the vets as i honestly dont think they will not wear it and you will be the one in court , looking at the latest pic he looks loads better and you are doing a grand job .

go kick the f**k out of the prick who put him in that state

i agree with big red you don't want end up in the court room after your doing all you can to see the poor buger right. he looks loads better mate. take a bat to that lads knees i would.

also he isnt eating well. ive tried tinned meat, soaked biscuits, brown bread, cheese, bones from the butcher but all he's had is about 3 mouth fulls, i'm assuming his stomach has shrunk and he cant fit no more in? any suggestions?

The dog needs a vet mate, he's dehydrated and malnorurished he wont eat till he's feeling a bit better with himself, the vet will probably put him on a drip of antibiotics and multivitamins 24hrs and he will be a hole lot better, i had the exact same experience with a dog, the culprit was left with egg(or was it blood on his face)? i took him straight to the vets he was in for a week and came out a different dog, dont delay take him in the morning, youve done nothing wrong but the dog needs professional help.

Well done to you for getting him back. Im not a Vet, but to me he doesnt seem ill, just completely malnourished and quite depressed. If he is eating better, drinking, is NOT being sick and his motions are ok, Id keep doing as you are doing. Id also be tempted to substitute the rice for Pasta. Give Tuna, Sardines and Pilchards in tomato sauce, plus anything else he will eat, but as you are doing, little and often.

All the very best

Your'e probably right Dawn: neglected dogs get very depressed, though some people may find that hard to believe, plus malnourishment/starvation can lead to depression too. Seen it too many times for comfort, and taken dogs in that seemed quite lifeless, no spirit etc. Good grub, getting out on even a short daytime mouch on ground lifting with scent, and lots of TLC soon perks them up.

Dogs have an awesome capacity for recovery if they know they are valued and loved, and just as importantly, have a job to do, even when they have suffered abuse or neglect.

thanks again for everyone who has posted and p.m'd me with advice. He seems alot better today, he has eaten rice, chicken, and a lamb bone from the butchers just going to gradually increase it over the next week or so.

a special thanks to fell terrier for his generous offer, cheers mate.
