stolen snares

well i found a farmer willing to let me try my snares out i set them last night as best as i could, well its the first time i have done it and went to check on them this morning only to find that all ten snares have walked i asked the farmer and he says he has not had them, it took ages to make them as well yes they were all pegged down propley

ive had some go walkies befor, bloody bunny huggers.

 

Saying that check the hedgerows, rabbits could pull pegs out but very unlikely all 10. i had one do that other day

Were they set near a footpath or obvious from a road? Could be bunny huggers, could be someone who'll use the snares themselves too.

 

Can't have anything these days unless it's bloody attached to a hungry dog. Even then they'll drug the dog :realmad:

it is the farmer taking them!! i laid another 5 last night and watched them for a couple of hours with no joy then just as i was about to leave up he walks and pulls them up says he wants them for another part of the farm?

 

why not just tell me to snare there? i asked if i could have my snares back but no joy so needless to say i wont be going back there

I'd go back, phone in hand. Ask for the snares back again or you're gonna report it to the long arm of the law. Taking something of his will just land you in trouble. I'd also let him know that word of mouth about things like this spreads quick and ask if that's how he'd like to be known for stealing something that costs so little?

i put some wires out on a spot last year ,no footpath, told farmer but hes, sound fifty went back early next day only found 10 ,spoke to an old trapper, he said i needed longer pegs, foxes, badgers take them it worked,

they must have been short pegs as a 7 inch peg has held many a fox you dont need great stakes to hold rabbits or hares
