I think 1/5 of each. hard to come by but the blacks no good without the border the russels no good without the fell and nothings anygood without a white lakeland

good and sh1t in all breeds and types. once he does his work right i personally couldnt care if he was half poodle. good terrier's a good terrier.

I personally don't believe that there is a best terrier.No one terrier will be the ideal for every situation.A wise old terrierman once said to me that a good terrierman keeps a variety of types/temperaments in his kennel.i,e something for every situation.

wise words indeed moorman. we,re lucky in this country to have a variety of contions/ground so a variety of terriers to suit are needed each with their own qualies. this is evident with past terrier men breeding types to suit their locality. I use russels myself cos they suit me..If i was else where I would use what suited the type of land I worked. earths in my area are nearly always old rabbit buries so i use bitches only around 11". Thats what suits me but in other parts something bigger may be needed. Use the dog that suits the land..jmho

Ive seen good terriers in all the breeds but the ones ive been most impressed by is a good old fashioned jack rusell,not the type seen inthe show ring.Small,bow,legged,musular with a good head and a bigger heart like the old irish type.Hard to beat a good russellIMO

i agree with moorman a good terrierman should keep all types of terriers for earthwork. a stayer. a bolter etc. but my favourite earth dog that has never failed me and my mates work. is a patt x white lakeland. we've had about 10 in our kennels and everyone has stayed untill dug to. but sometimes this aint this best terrier especially if the ald bill comes along you like a terrier to bolt the fox if need arises. so a mix of working ability in youre kennels. is the best. my mate has just sold his best earth dog.
