richard25 0
American Bulldogs Everytime for me but it really does depend on what exactly you want, do you just want a dog that will bark & look scary or do you want a real dog that will attack a real threat & if the second choice i say you find a good breeder of whatever your chosen breed & start speaking to them & expect to put alot of work in eg protection training something like shutzhund or my french ring etc... Hunter kennels have some proper Mastiffs along with Alanos & for American Bulldogs i think the most successsful kennel as to titled dogs goes to churchills or bluebloods & both have great dogs... What about Presa's as we do have some fine Presas in this country... Best advise find a good breeder of your chosen breed & look for some protection titles not show titles at there house ( or website lol ) Good Luck
speedlamper 0
saw on the one show today about the rise in people giving up there animals (mostly dogs) because they cant afford to keep it because of the credit crunch, animal shelters/homes are full of top animals with loads left in them slumming it in a 3x2 cage, rather than choosing a breed and then looking for that dog why not pop round a few shelters and see what they got in, take the missus and kids if you have any and visit a few, make a day of it, im sure you'll all fall in love with something along the way that would make a crackin guard dog, most shelters only ask for a small donation and you'll be giving a dog a good home which it will look after in return

BlueCoyote 0
judging from the pic, what i can see of him, he looks like a lean 105lbs, which is always a good thing! most people who brag about the weight of their dog dont take into account whether the majority of that weight is muscle or fat... when i was calling around looking for a better vet to care for my dog they asked how much she weight (overweight dogs tend to have back problems i guess) i said she was 80lbs.. their next response was "well if she's overweight then.." No! she is NOT overweight. She was 80lbs of pure muscle the night she got injured. this was taken the day before she broke her back... mine is the one in the red collar. the dog next to her was 95lbs and had a hell of a time keeping up with her games

valentino 0
just to add.......guard dogs are not like other dogs,........ dont be fooled by your collie x barking at people or your beddy x bouncing off the walls to keep out unwanted visitors,....these arent guard dogs albeit you may think it is as for guard dogs......serious guard dogs,...you must imo, seek out reputable breeders of these dogs and visit and ask questions, and then ask more questions and visit more kennels......they may not be for you, infact 90% of people on here wont cope with them and dont need that much dog,....and will probably change there mind,.......but it is better to change your mind before you go to pick up a pup, that in time may be ''too much'',... so if you are thinking along the lines of 'guarding type' dogs,....think very carefully and do alot of research.... and that doesnt mean read about them on wilkinsons pet encyclopydia etc etc lol valentino
smudge1901 1
Hope to have solved my problem, now have a gorgeous staffy bitch. Aged 2 and very good with kids. Bigger than described when I collected her, which hasnt gone down well with the Mrs, but give her time..Will get a pic on soon, very big girl and unusual colour, kind of cross between silver and chocolate. I'm hoping she will settle in her pen, as she was in a flat, but she has everything she needs in there....
