The book is titled,."My Special Little Book",...and I have been working on my Fat Whippet all Summer... Its been hard...I've been road walking her for ten miles a day, and been up at first light myself,..jogging, skipping and generally working on my own body shape.. All the best,.CHALKWARREN.... thats where it whent ... i hope you followed the feeding regime rigorously taking particular note of the cheese and chutny lunch washed down with the cheapest cola you can buy followed by the enforced rest period of 18 hours .... this is the key to the excersise and if you deviated off it then i am afraid all your hard work was in vain ..... i look forward to your rippling body doing a few more turns on the shovel this year as the chalk and flint has broken many a tough guy up here .............. sandymere 8,263
For my twupence worth you can improve early pace on a stayer and stamina on a sprinter but you never turn one into the other. It's possible to slightly increase the percentage of fast twitch muscle fibres + improve biomechanics with fast paced training such as spinting, ball work or fly etc but the percentage gain is relatively small. Increasing general fitness will also help by improving heart/ lung function and the muscles ability to deal with waste products. But in simple terms if there are a lot of fast twitch fibres they will create lots of waste products very fast, such as lactate, so speed for a short time or if there are lots of slow twitch they will not produce the same power/speed but will produce less waste for a given distance so go on for longer.
