Hi all,

considering one of these scopes for my .22lr for use on the lamp, any thoughts. I need an up grade for the darker hours...

Matt

i have one on my cz 22lr and i think its a cracking scope. good under the lamp and the scb recticial is great for the different hold overs at range.

i have shot loads of rabbits with my 22lr and this scope. and it is a cracking combo you wont be sorry mate if you get one :gunsmilie:

Nothing wrong with it for .22lr under the lamp. It doesn't have great low light perfprmance, such as dawn/dusk, not to my eyes anyway. Have shot rabbits and foxes (when it was on the old .223) with mine out to 155 yards (fox). The reticle is indeed very good for bullet drop, it's why the MTC is on my .22lr and not the new Leupold I have.

One thing pointed out to me by another member. If you close the objective lens sunshade and turn on the illuminated reticle we both saw that the lenses inside were actually quite dirty :o Whether this applies to our two, or all I can't say.

i have one on my 22/250 for the time being and i could see the fox fine at 180 yards the other night ?

but you are right its not as good under the lamp at distance compared to the bushnell elite i had.

but there is a big difference in price so for the money the mtc with the scb reticial is a great buy.

and on the 22lr will be perfect. as for the dust i have never seen that on mine ? i will check later

but to be honest i never use the ir anyway

I never seen it either Jamie until it was pointed out to me, you have to have the objective sunshade closed to see it. Makes me wonder if the scope would be clearer if that muck wasn't in it.

Have one of these on my fac rated air ranger, overall very good, the fine reticle aids accuracy very well, the only down side is the size and weight, it should deffinetly be taken into account while choosing suitability.

Good point Mole trapper.

Very heavy i take it?

Heavier than a nikko diamond 4-12 X x 56 30 mm tube that i have on my .243 do you suppose?

Cause that is a monster in the weight stakes.

I hadn't considered that problem.

At night i normally shoot off the sticks, but i still use it in the daytime, and like to travel light.

Bit of a hopeful question I know???

I have the 6-24x56 Viper and I really don't like it. The reticle is good for 22LR, but at night I have to be absolutely in line to see through it, and it's a real pain. The reticle is IMHO too fine for lamping as well.

22LR is a tricky one because of the drop, but I'd just get mil-dot since it does the job but is relatively uncluttered.

On my flatter shooting rifles I'm going back to simple-to-use reticles that don't get in the way. I prefer the German #4 with a dot, but standard duplex should be OK too. The dot reticle is brilliant - I was busting up rabbits at 200 yards with my Remington 223 and Hawke Endurance 30 (you know, the one that doesn't work on centrefires :-P) under the lamp and it was absolutely brilliant - dot on target, squeeze.

LR is annoying because you need something to help with the drop :(

Didnt you have a nikko nighteater logic?

What was that like, i really like my diamond 4-12, but have never judged the optics on a nighteater?

Funny this..out last night with Mr L and as well as shooting, we were talking about the mass of different scopes we had between us, MTC is not a brand Mr L is happy with at all, I don't have one so not in a position to comment, but I know he is not very happy with his!
