Molie1337 35
Does anyone still rat with ferrets, or do they just get too messed up? you do hear some horror stories after all! our ratting patch is VERY overgrown and you just cant get a smoker to most of the holes, just wondered how well ferrets would do, and if anyone breeds a small line specialy for ratting. any response appreciated! Im sure a few of us would offer to help cut back, for a days ratting with the terriers it would be some job to clear it, its about 2 football pitches sort of area (not a big square but long) on a bank, thats made of football sized boulders, with years and years worth of some sort of vine growing over the top. its seriously thick. weve tried smoking them to the terriers, smoking them and shooting them with the .410(great sport but not a good rat - cartridge ratio), weve got a live catch trap out 24/7 for "puppy training". would be great to get a whole team of terriers down there and a few good blokes, but the farmer is a bit funny about new people, so unfortunatly its just for me! so get your own permission ya cheeky get cheers though! Molie Edited to put - all in good fun, no offence meant, i know what some peoples tempers are like!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post
victor 10
get heaps of terriers up one end, and on the outher eith light a fire or get a bob cat and fang threw the whole rock pile, should work Edited September 3, 2008 by victor Quote Link to post
Guest on the hill
bad molie lol dont put them ferrets down there unless they like haveing one eye and three legs ffs........ask them thay might just want that eh and thats not even worst case senario lol Edited September 3, 2008 by on the hill Quote Link to post
Molie1337 35
damn victor, u aussys sure have the right idea!! we have actually looked at burning it but apparently according to surrey county council we couldnt light so much as a match because its too close to the M25 (big motorway in the south of england). so thats out and the matbro cant get onto the bank because its so steep! so it looks like we'll have to keep strugling with the smoker On The Hill. glad i checked first, it does seem to be that rats are much harder than ferrets, wich puts them even further to the back of my mind!! cant stand the bloody things, i have scars to prove it! at least smokers dont bite! Cheers all Molie Quote Link to post

Malt 379
Not being funny mate, but that job sounds like a nightmare! I'd advise the farmer to get a pestie in and put poison down. On an area that size, and awkwardness, you'd never make a large impact with ferrets, dogs or guns. Just my opinion though.... Quote Link to post
