Hi All.

I am Curious which is the most popular brand of Rifle and Shotgun Ammunition.

If you could choose the Make you shoot the most or favour the most of both Shotgun and Rifle(If you have both, Obviously)

With the Rifle Ammunition, Could you post which Rifles you fire them through?

I have put a separate question for Rimfire and Centrefire.

If I have missed any, choose other, and if you could post which?

I have chosen Remington for Centrefire through a CZ 527 in .222 and Winchester for Rimfire through a CZ 452 16" .17 HMR.

Thanks and Regards

All the best with this one and it will be interesting, but I use several brands in my collection of centrefires and rimfires as I find different brands suit the different calibres and different purposes.

For example in the .223 Wolf for Hunting and Barnaul for Target, .243, PPU does most things although some manufacturers light ballistic tips produce very destructive results, 7.62 Radway Green but .308 almost any brand!!!! etc etc, even bigger mix on the rimfires!!!

Federal and American Eagle are the same brand, just marketed under different names!

Shotgun wise I am not good enough to be brand specific, just look at the number, plastic, fibre, price!!!

Suspect a lot will also come down to "what your local RFD carries"

I'll be watching with great interest though!!

AE and the Federal bulk pack stuff used to shoot different in my old .223, despite having the same ballistics on the Federal site and me recieving a rather snotty email saying they're the same thing (decoded as mind your own 'effing business :clapper: ).

As Deker states, a lot of it will come down to what your local dealer stocks.

Mine stocks Remmington for the rimfire and as some of you may recall I had a nightmare with these jamming and missfiring.

I now travel some distance to buy my Eley rounds but I must say it is worth every bit of my time and fuel, I have now fired over 2000 shots without a single jam or missfire!!!!

The Rems were jamming and missfiring with disturbing regularity.

It really pi@@ed me off to line up a bunny to just get a click.

The thing is I quite fancy one of their light weight rifles but if their ammo is anything to go by I am worried about the quality???

I handload for my .223 Howa. The nearest i would say is Hornady as i use their vmax heads.

Rimfire i put federal. Prefer these in my .17 cz, but i use cci in my rem 597 as they cycle reliably and rws or aguila in my finnfire.

Shotgun, i get whats cheapest.

All the above are subject to availability, but are prefered.

in my 22lr cz i use the eley subs i find them very accurate

in my annie hmr i find the federal and hornady ammo the best and super accurate

in my 22/250 the federal ammo shoots well but so do the sako, privi, and winchester silvertips

want to reload soon with 50 grain amax and 50 grain nostler bt.

I use what I can get mainly! prvi shoots well in the 243 and I can get softpoint so I use that.

223, American Eagle shoots well in both the Remington and my new CZ 527 223, but nobody seems to have it in a sensible volume. I'd take Prvi's 55gr softpoints but nobody has them :(

HMR, Winchester but I'll shoot what I can get

22LR Eley subs
