the_stig 6,614
Dont meen to be a dick but a lamping competion lamping rabbits doesnt realy say much about the dog i mean its not rabbiting that seperates the good dogs from the better ones. No, it only seperates the people who are willing to put their dogs up, from the ones who denigrate it !! Cheers. Quote Link to post
sean.t 0
This post has been edited, engage your brain before typing what quarry you should take with a lurcher. Rabbits are the only legal quarry in England and the species you mention are certainly all not legal in Ireland. The internet is a small world and comments like that do little for the site or yourself. Simoman Good luck to all the fellas who put their name in the hat for this perfectly legal activity Quote Link to post
sean.t 0
Sean, I take it you mean me, when you say "the boy above you" !! Firstly, I'm not a boy, I'm 56; secondly, I don't know anything about you or your dogs, so couldn't comment on your dogs. You post on a thread you know nothing about, and suggest that rabbits are not the quarry of a lurcher, well my lurchers over the years have taken EVERYTHING, what is it that YOUR dogs take ?? Do enlighten us !!Cheers. and you saying you have had dogs through the years are going to say that you still wouldnt hunt a fox? not trying to be a dick or nothing i was simply making a suggestion and it wasnt until use started that i said i wouldnt waste my time with rabbits. I said my dogs have taken "EVERTHING", before the ban, of course, that includes fox !!! This is a RABBIT lamping competition, for good prize money and trophies, if the humble rabbit is below you and your dog, why comment ????? Cheers. Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,114
Dont meen to be a dick but a lamping competion lamping rabbits doesnt realy say much about the dog i mean its not rabbiting that seperates the good dogs from the better ones. IDIOT Idiot? sir if i had any intrest in a dog and someone was going to show me what its like on rabbits i wouldn't want to know. Lurcher men dont hunt rabbits there is better things to do with them than hunt rabbits, and the boy above you trying to say that my dogs are lacking in something their lacking in f**k all. Wouldnt waste my time with rabbits. lurcher men dont hunt rabbits, what the feck. 90% of lurcher men hunt rabbits. yes a few specialise in fox , hare and deer pre ban , but even most of them hunt rabbit as well. instead of winding folk up on this thread , you should have put your money where your mouth is and been in the comp. after all you state a lurcher can catch rabbits all night long. put a few pics up then fella Quote Link to post
LDR 29
Just to clarify this point as simply as i can i'll give you some scenarios.............. After the first heat one runner from wiltshire wins, the next heat they'd prob be facing the winner of markbrick or spep......if two wiltshire runners win, then one will face the winner of mark and spep, the other will prob face the winner of scouser and langley.......if all three win, then they can either have one against the winer of mark and spep, one against the winner of scouser or langley and one against someone who needs an opponent which will be run in nottingham.............or they can all travel up and match northern dogs again........ if they all won the first heat and wanted to come up again, then the table would dictate that the winner of mark and spep would face the winner of scouser and langley, and that the wiltshire lot would then be placed against the winners of max and L+B, fieldy and minion and myself and rew.......these matches are only if they were all to win and want to travel back up again..............lets say luke bull cross wins his first heat and so does marbrick......does it realy seem sensible for luke bull cross to have to come back to the north east, and for markbrick to drive past lukes to get to his second heat, when they would be the closest???? This has been set out like this due to lots of conversations and so on, and its the way people were happiest for it to be done.......... All competitors have my contact number should they have any queries or problems with this................... Another suggestion thats been put to me is that all the first heat matches as they stand go in a hat, and are drawn individually put on a new table and the table then gets followed down as in any other league, with no exceptions and then you'll face who you face, the peole in the match with the best permission holds the heat the other person has to travel????? The options are endless as to which way to draw people, areas....etc etc like i say if people want to contact me, i'll happily explain to them why the heats are being done this way............. Does that make sense to everyone??????????? Quote Link to post

Wouldnt waste my time with rabbits. "Lurcher men dont hunt rabbits" What other type of competion could you have nowadays????? I agree there maybe better things to run lurchers on but you certainly couldnt have a competion running them as its illegal to hunt such quarry!!! as for running rabbits being a waste of time theres thousands of people who enjoy running rabbits myself included and the rabbits always come in handy for food for dogs etc and its the best exercise/training you can give a dog for other quarry pre ban IMHO. I think you've just proved what an IDIOT you are with the above comments. Quote Link to post

I, of course, will still back this competition, whatever you decide ! Cheers, your cantankerous old mate !! Quote Link to post
Guest wex
Another macho hunter who feels the humble rabbit is not good enough to bother with. The boys in the comp have put themselves in the spotlight so they deserve a pat on the back. Brainless comments like those submitted by MR T arent welcome. Good luck lads and lasses cheers wex.
