cumbye 36
use an electric collar mate it will save you a lot of time and grief 10mins with this will focus his attention there a brilliant tool in the right hands best of luck . topper Ive cured sheep killers that were on death row with electric collars, fighters and bolters, they are excellent in the right hands,if all else fails...What would you have?? a dog shocked or a dog shot? threbb 0
I have a fell terrier that is amazing to watch at 1year tearing away at the bushes, he will work at a 20 foot length in front of me and will instanly respond to the whistle. problem this terrier has his own ideas at times and when he decides to bolt there is nothing I can do about it. he will disappear for 20mins returning to the same spot that i was shouting like a madman at him to return. he knows i am calling cause he runs at full sprint and when you call he turns his head slightly but keeps going. at this time nothing safe he will attack other dogs and hates sheep with a passion even though he walks ammounst them daily. i belive the problem lies with the excersie they get the more you run the dog the better he responds but to see this perfect working terrier switch modes is unbeliveable any ideas guys electric collar could help but be very careful. When you do it get it right and only do it once or twice at most. Get him out every day and he will come on better. When he comes back let him see he has missed something like a dead rabbit or anything really but dont let him touch it.They hate to miss out. When he goes in any direction you should go the opposite without telling him and never never chase him and dont be in the same place when he gets back from a run.Make him feel insecure for a change.Good luck
richard25 0
I think you have be given some good advise here so far & pretty much just follow it & use some common sense & you should be fine. Generally that is just terrier behaviour but like others have said it could be to do with the dogs age & hitting maturity although yuor dog should allways listen to you & in some circumstances you could end up in abit of trouble ie a farmer shoots your dog or your dog gets mangled by a bigger dog etc so if you are that worried maybe look into an electric collar like these http://www.britishdog.net/gbu0-catshow/Rem...CFQEq1Aod_n2YfA & they usually have levels so you can start on just a low level & see how it goes but its not that bad at all & like some have said its alot better than a dead dog.
