Sako.243 1
The sire was Dave Smiths "Gazza" and the Dam was Willie Toughs "Spindles" mate, You would have to ask Maxhardcore the connection to "Splodge". Quote Link to post

Guest Zak
with our small tight fields were a hare needs to be picked within 2 minutes spot on. they would not get near them over here. what makes you think that our coursing dogs in england cant kill your hares over there and you say that forley winners like tina for example wouldnt get near em when the hares over there are weaker and smaller than the english hare i dont know where you boys get that misconception from that dogs in england cant kill hares quick because i can assure you we do kill em quick in average sized fields what you dont understand and i doubt youve course hares on big land in winter when you watch clips of dogs running hares for 4 mins on big land those hares are flying and at theyre strongest and the best of dogs take that amount of time to break his hare and get it under control before he even starts to think about killing it . theres a dvd in circulation of lucky killing a hare on a golf course in winter time no mean feat i think you will agree . a couple of years ago a friend of mine outside cork came over to course with me for the weekend he comes over quite regular i took him down south he was always telling me about the irish hare when he seen our dogs coursing english hares in fields he was blown away when i asked him his opinion on the english hare he told me the irish hare does not compare when i took him to the fen he was speechless i had a mediocre bitch here she could possibly do one out of three sometimes two out of four on a good day but nothing special . i gave it to him to take back it was doing fours and fives around a place called i believe carlow within a month of him having her my phone did not stop ringing with boys from ireland ringing me up enquiring have you got any dogs for sale like the one frankie had of you hes comlng over in a fortnight with a well known coursing man from ireland for a weekend your more than welcome to come with em and compare em for yourself you make a very good point and well spoken. i as a lad, coursed the brown in uk a good bit, they do have fair pace. when i bought my dog over here to ireland in 86, she could not pick up a january irish hare, as well as a uk hare in a big feild. i thin k whats needed here, is proof, of some famouse dogs in the uk, catching irish hares in out tiny bog ridden feilds. i have a bitch now, that catches most hares that get up, she would kill in uk id say aswell. also, the irish hare, is bigger then the scottish blue hare and i think at times, bigger then the brown, we regularily get 8 to 9 pound hares get cought over here. happy hunting all, it takes al sorts and its all part of the fun, good luck. BRAN 0
Brookie, I've done them both. And I think the difference is the terrain, and diet. Your hare over there is eating a much varied diet and better than the ones here. Cereals, beet on big land equals an athlete, not to say we don't have impossible hares over here either. It's a question of strengths too ours is that our dogs on a whole excel around cover and obstacles, the english stuff I've seen here had difficulty with the obstacles. When we went over there, our stuff did ok, but our host brought us to impossible hares! And red hot land so we really didn't get a chance because we were harrassed pillar to post! You also mentioned a dog you sent over, but that doesn't really hold up for Carlow is about the biggest land we have over here itself? It really is different horses for different courses. How did your saluki litter end up mate? Quote Link to post
