Recommended Posts

ive got a rod at home , which i bought of ebay last year and i feel its far too long for me too use , i prefer shorter rods about 6ft size . the rod is a ugly stik atlantis salt 20-30lb and its 7ft 6inches long can i trim could i trim 10 inches of the end to bring it down too 6ft 8 or not?? what diffrence wil it make to the rods lifting capabilties. its not being used for any great work just the occasional haddock and mackeral session and small ling and cod up to 15lbs

you can cut any rod down a little, just means whipping the eyes back on so the weight on the line is eavenly

distibuted. I start with the tip and temp stick on the eyes with tape to get the right bend, then whip them on propper.

might need a slightly larger eye for the ip depending on the width of the blank, can sand it down a little, super glue then whipp. On other ocasions i have just moved the rod handle up the blank a little, but means splitting the handle and unsticking the reel seat, quite tricky.
