Llanshooter 0
I have the chance to shoot duck this coming season (inland rather than foreshore). Can anyone clarify what non-lead shot I can use if my gun isn't proofed for steel shot? Quote Link to post
mandog 37
Costs a bomb mate, by the end of the season you would of spent enough to by a new one. Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
What gun do you have and what are the chamber lengths? Standard Steel is an option in most cases even if the gun is not proofed. Other "softer" materials include Bismuth, Tungsten Matrix, TMX and Hevi Shot. Out of those, Tungsten and Hevi Shot are the most similar or give similar results as lead. Bismuth is fine, but I have always had better results, i.e. Cleaner kills, with Tungsten. It may be more expensive but you have to ask yourself, How many will you fire and how often do you go? I would rather buy good shells for the times I go than bad ones and ruin my day. doddsy1970 9
Its a Miroku Game gun with 1/2 and full fixed chokes You would be able to get away with half choke on steel but you may damage the barrels on full choke Quote Link to post
