first dig

hello

new to this forum and also new to the working of terriers.

just dug down to my 17month old prt and dispatched a boar badger, an old timer with broken teeth weighing in at between 15 to 20kg.

quite an easy dig i guess, eventually finding the badger at a couple of feet below us.

 

now i`m wondering if this dog will be able to bolt foxes or is he more likely to stay with the quarry waiting for me to dig down to him?

 

where i hunt, badgers have taken over all dens where it is possible to dig, while the foxes have moved further up in the mountains where digging is impossible.

Well done mate, lucky t##t dont get to do that here without looking over your shoulder.Dont worry about your dog sticking to ground its the whole idea,if he gives the fox enough of a incentive he will leave the biggest of places . The secret to bolting foxes is to remember to be as quiet as you can and no stomping about with box and coller, give him a chance to go first. KEEP THE FAITH AND GOOD LUCK

if your worried that he wont bolt foxes and you cant dig to him just stick to the badgers i know thats what id be doing in your country and situation. well done and hope you have many happy digs to follow

thank you, i`ll keep that in mind.

hopefully he`ll get a chance at bolting a fox this autumn, would be really usefull if he`d do both.

well done mate on youre first dig. youre dog must be f*****g hard to go with a badger.
