white deer

Out for a walk with the dogs last night and saw a white deer. It looked like a fallow but I have tried to find out more on google but not much on there.

Anyone give us a clue?

yes you get white fallow pretty often, seen plenty..........Now a white Roe would be a surprise...I have heard rumors but I think its a old wives tale.

I have seen plenty of white fallow.Never seena white roe yet, but would love to photograph one. Great piccy.

Thanks for the replies. As they are that common it's got me wondering whether they can run faster than normal coloured fallow....

The three main species of Fallow in the UK are Common, Melanistic (darker to black) and Menil (lighter to white) and certain hybrids in-between... never seen any other than the common myself.

Saw a black one in the same place as I saw the white one the other day. Fourth time there in the day and I've probably seen 25 or more fallow!!!

Yep it was probably a fallow, i see them regularly around here. I was out lamping the other night and a decent white fallow buck crossed the road in front of me. I tried to get a pic but he dissapeared before i had a chance. Me and Johnno off this site saw 5 fallow in a group last year it contained a 2 melanistic, 2 whites and a common

wasnt my way was it there was a group of does on lydney estate by the road.last winter same as that.
