Foxgun Tom 75
Could I have the SACS members of the forums view on this?? At the "SACS" AGM, members were given a handout from the organisers of "The Galloway Game Fair asking that "SACS" and its members consider sponsoring this event?? It mentions two shows in particular that the other two pro fieldsports organisations are linked with! in Scotland, The Scottish Countryside Alliance at Glamis and Basc at Cardross both these fairs have Lurcher shows. Galloway does not!!! The Lurcher show at the Galloway Fair was a major attraction at this show for a number of years until its alledged a small minority of Lurcher owners spoilt it for the majority? Due to this, Fair no longer having a Lurcher show and the Galloway Lurcher club lost their most prestigeous show!!! effectively Lurchers were banned from this event, I cannot therefore personally support sponsorship of a show that excludes a section of "SACs" Members It was made clear to me at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone this year by one of the organisers of the Galloway show, that Lurchers were not welcome at the show for the forseeable future I would appriciate the comments of the "SACS" members who are working dog enthusiasts, There has also been a drop in attendance at this show over recent years and I believe its due to the loss of the main attractions namely A lurcher Show? Many of my friends from Northern Ireland who keep and work Lurchers and Terriers won't make the journey to a show that excludes certain breeds/types Tom Edited August 25, 2008 by Foxgun Tom
bill88 6
Tam we have spoken at length a few times about "dog men" being shafted by other fieldsports organisations and show organisers .I would hate to think that mine and/or others membership fee's were being used to support or promote these beliefs.Did a "small minority" of lurcher owners cause a problem? or is it the "toffs and tweeds" brigade shafting the dog men yet again?
