frost 4
Whatever happened to fair game?Having recently witnessed some of the local "hunters" chasing several different species of prey with what can only be described as a pack of assorted lurchers and then hearing them boast about their so called SUPERDOGS and how good they are i have to wonder is it just me or has our sport went rapidly downhill? for as far as i am concerned it should be one dog,one chase and may the fittest, smartest beast win but maybe thats just the way i hunt? What does everyone else think? Quote Link to post
Guest michael.hudson7
I agree with what you say mate hound on prey fair sport, pack hunting never been my thing. although me and a few of the lads some weekend mornings go for a mooch round with the dogs but not specifically hunting just keeping them fit and if anything gets up and they have a run it keeping them interested so a bit of a bonus. weekye 0
it's the same round my way too, 5 or 6 dogs on the arse of something, just not sporting! Quote Link to post
freddybamboo 0
Im in too I think after 18 months the dogs should only be paired if its to coach a new pup etc I run my two together at the moment (well not at this moment as they are both burst), but will be stopping soon and going singles. I wouldnt say that its shooty in with more dogs, but it definately cuts down the preys chance. The way that the odds should be cut is by having a better equipped dog, not a squad Quote Link to post
Guest smashygadge
i always run single handed if it dosnt catch or take the quarry down the games had the sporting chance.and also the dogs been beaten and possibly try the harder next time.fare game Quote Link to post
OHIO STEVE 11
To me it would depend on my reason for the dog running..IF I was doing it purely for the sport of it then YES one dog one quarry. On the other hand if I was getting dinner then 20 dogs on one quarry with hand grenades would suite me just fine lol. I will agree that bragging on 4-5 dogs taking one piece of game is a bit off.
