Hancock Lurchers. Anyone Help?

How much does Hancock Charge for his lurchers?

I have seen a very nice 4 month old lurcher on his page.

And have also seen another lurcher i like elsewhere.

I dont mind which dog i get just think it would be a better idea

to go for the cheaper one.

Any one Help.

DH charges £200, which one you interested in? seen a few on his page born Aprill this year....

why would cheaper be the better idea?! surely the dog you want the most and would do the job you want it for best would be the best choice?

i went down to hancocks 3yrs ago with the intenion of buying a3/4 cross . whilst there i looked at some older dogs and to be honest mate they were all nerverse recks shit scared of me the wife and kids all of them hid at the back of a big pen dont get me wrong i am not anti hancock but if ever bought one i would want to get it as young as possible.the good thing about his dogs is you can be 100percent sure what you are getting alot off other pups get sold as what ever the parents happen to look like

Cheaper would be better cuz im payin for it out of my pocket money

ive been savin up for a year and have £120 atm

My parents have said they will pay for everything else as long as i get the dog

fair enogh,sorry,didnt realise you were a young un. well,you're 120 should buy you a decent pup from someone on here if you have a bit of patience and wait for the right one. (and no,im not a hancock hater!my bitch is half hancock and her sire was a hell of a dog!)

just to add to my last coment .from the age of 2 month to 4 month in a pup is vital to them to build confidance for the rest of they lives i take my out to town centers .parks full of screamin kids.in heavy trafic .cattle markets ect .all my dogs end up being bold and confidant which is how you need a lurcher to be .but a dog that has been kept in a pen and not been out socailising for the first 4 months of its live could be a lot harder work [nerverse scatty etc ] thats my personal opintion anyway best of luck with what ever you decide

Does Hancock Not Socialise his dogs properly then?

from the older pups i seen on my only visit there i would have to say no but the younger ones all seemed ok i think he lets them go at 8 wks old at that age its up to you to socialise to them .but go and have a look it cost nowt and he seems to be a decent bloke .alot of people slate him and his dogs on here but you should form your own opinion of him i have and i would buy of him next time you only have to look at w.hunters storm to see what he can produce

I'm not going to knock Hancock, it's been done to death here there and everywhere!...No his pup are not socialised, the shear volume makes that job impossible for him imo.

 

Bide your time young fella, what ever you get will/should be with you for up to fifteen years so choose carefully Last pup I got came from a guy on here, well bred/socialised and he didn't charge me for her...There will always be someone here who will help with the right dog.

Villebones: please listen to everyone on here: we took pity on a 5 month old Hancock pup he had there after we were daft enough to drop by. That pup had never been out of the pen it had been reared in: it took the poor thing 2 weeks before it learned that it was allowed to walk across the threshold of the run we had it in when we got it home: it was terrified of everything and anything.

 

Months down the line, and the dog would now be about 14 months old and he was still as phobic about anything new, virtually p*ssiing himself at each new situation. There is no happy ending to this story as we eventually decided that it was kindest to have the dog put down: he was only OK at home.

 

Yes, some pups are so naturally sound and bombproof that they can overcome the worst type or rearing and lack of socialisation, but the majority do not.

 

If you really want a Hancock dog then you need to get it away from his place by 8 weeks old at the VERY LATEST: then you can give it the vital socialisation it needs. Even better, buy one from someone on here who has bred for themselves and reared them with the kids and running about in the back garden. Probably won't cost you anywhere near as much either.

 

There are a couple of cracking looking litters on here at the moment: why not get in touch by pm and have a chat with the breeders?
