Guest greengrass123
Cant believe when looking on other sites people are still defending the KC when that programme the other night highlighted just what is going on with the pedigree market. Sadly a lot of whippet breeders and owners now seem to be showing the kind of snobbery that is rife in the pedigree world. I was talking to a guy the other day who had his ped whippet with him, he was admiring my dog , and asked me what lines it was from. When i told him it was part saluki, although it looks more whippety. He said you would get more for the pups if you breed her, if it had been a pure bred whippet with KC papers. My dog would have left his standing at any thing physical, conformation was better, coat was, mine was just a healthier dog. Seems that kc papers are the passport to charging extortianate prices for often inferior dogs. Anyway watch martin clunes programme tonight about the wolves we live with. That should piss some people off when they see the true value of their papers.

Says it all doesn't it! Just have a look at this rescue place: many of the dogs they have up for rehoming are ex breeding stock which just get dumped on them when they can't breed any more: http://www.freewebs.com/manytearsrescue/
bill88 6
Arseholes is the only way to describe them.Look how they f*cked the Bedlington up and then slated Newcombe and others for supposedly ruining the breed by outcrossing them, even though the KC Bedlington of today bears absolutely no resemblance to the original breed. huntergatherer 0
Lat year i was goven a pure bread whippet, he was 24 inches tall called roan. He was Blue and white, 12 months old and beautiful. Me being a sucker couldnt resist, the only reason his owner didnt want him is because he was an inch too tall for the showing ring!!!!!! now although he was lovely and sweet, and fine with my other two dogs of then. he tore my house and car to shreds!!!! wouldnt't run at all no matter how or what we tried. i also had to sign papers that i wouldnt breed form him of sell him. which is fine. really he was a lap dog! and needed company 24 hours a day. so alas being in a very small cottage at the time with two kids 2 adults and 2 other dogs, he really wasnt suitable for me! as really i wanted a worker, it just so happened that a chap we knew, lurcher had just died he was so upset and tearful and was depsarate for another companion as his dog was his one and only partner. So he had roan, now called "harry". and they are a match made in heaven! thankfully i also [bANNED TEXT] t o another lady near by who was advertising whippets as workers pups, wanted £150 a pup, so we went talong to have a look, over 30 dogs greeted us!!!!!! in very poor conditions and she had plenty more caged up as well of all shapes and sizes and although oi would give one a wonderful, working home i was so appalled, i can't believe that although animals people are allowed ot do this for money alon and unlicensed, it's mad and cruel and so very shocking!!!!!!!!! i wasn't gonna post to any of the threads regarding the kc etc etc but i do agree with most that has ben said and now feel inclined to say something. I now have just a collie x springer as my working companion and she is looney but wonderful, she has been spade as there are enough dogs needing homes as it is. Much like ferrets which i used to rescue a lot of. ok if you wanna breed make a little money or whatever, why can't conditions be improved. I have often thought why not have dog licensing in practice and work along side the rspca? It's all totally mad.
Guest little lurcher
i bred whippets , for working but also perfect comapnions , as well as can be shown, you need kc reg to do a lot of activities , my sons both enjoy doing shows with our dogs too , i am also dismayed at the way many show dogs are kept , denied simple thing such as having a shit!! oh yes manually done but some ponce who wants to keep his dog white FFS !! i tend to keep my head done and shut my mouth or im sure i will be banned from showing!!! it is down to you what you want a dog for and what if any paperwork you want with it , just for working , then go ahead get unreg stock from proven lines, but if you think you might want to race or lure course then you have to have kc reg? breeders whom hold the breed true in its origins need to get out there and challenge not fight on the internet tbh? breed true to type with good working abilities, never forgetting a good temperment is important for a team member those that breed monstrosities and give the breed even more faults want shooting imo, those poor spaniels were heartbreaking!! and that bitch who went on to breed from that crap needs , well ill not say what i think she needs !!! , the lurchermen could teach the kc lot a hell of a lesson , crap is not to be bred from !!
