can anyone help??

Recommended Posts

Hiya to all you extreme hunters, I'm new to this site and a complete virgin to hunting with dogs :icon_redface: apart from riding with the Oakley

I've been reading some of the mails and I can see how important lurcher breeding is, so I'm prepared to take some flak incase I've got a complete grommit. I've got an 18 month collie/grey/whippet. She's crazy to kill rabbits, and looks like she really wants to work, but I don't know anyone who can show me and her the ropes. Is it too late to start her??? Is there anyone around Beds\Cambs area that would be prepared to take on a couple of rookies??

Cheers

ITS A f*****g DISGRACE THE IMPACT THE THE ANTI HUNTING MOVEMENT HAS HAD ON THE HUNTING COMMUNITY. TWN YEARS AGO THIS YOUNG PERSONS INBOX WOULD HAVE BEEN FULL OF OFFERS TO JOIN CLUBS AND DAYS FERRETTIGN AND LAMPING RABBITS. NOW THE FIRST THOUGHT IS COULD BE AN ANTI COULD BE AN USBDERCOVER SPCA, LACS. JUST AT THE TIME WHNE WE NEED TO SWELL OUR RANKS AND GAIN SUPPPORT WE ARE RELUCTANT TO HELP THE POTENTIAL NEW COMERS TO THE WOLRD OF THE WORKING LURCHER. I WOUL RECOMEND YOU GO TO A SHOW OR TOO NEAR YOU AND MINGLE WITH THE CROWD LWT THEM SEE YOUR DOG AND HAVE A CHAT SOMEONE WILL WROK YOU OUT AS GENUINE AND GET YOU STRATED THE INTERNET IS UNFORTUNATELY SHELL SHOCKED WITH UNDERCOVER INFILTRATION.

Don't worry I understand perfectly that you've got to be careful and I agree it is a disgrace that everyone has to be on their guard, it's the same in foxhunting and believe me I know how careful you've got to be about what you say cos I've just had an RSPCA officer move in next door to me  tho I realise saying that isn't gonna win any confidence from all of yous ;) Still, I'm trying to educate her, so that when she tells me tales of how they've had to bring in scuba divers and a boat and all the rest to attempt to 'rescue' an injured swan who then had to be humanely destroyed, I do point out how much less expensive and stressful for the swan it would have been if they had just shot it from the shore in the first place.

I guess there's nothing I can say to reassure you, cos whatever I say you'll think 'well she would say that wouldn't she'. But in my defence, I have just asked about coneys and they are legal and I'm not trying to get anyone to drop themselves in it by saying anymore. Honest

Not every RSPCA officer is bad.....................when i worked with horses, we had horses brought to us from them whilst they f****d up the cases..........the officer who used to come by regular, had a lurcher and terrier and seemed to have an instant distrust of me, maybe cos he knew i could see him for what he really was.................. :tongue2:

Good one! Must admit the woman next door can't be all that wet, she used to be in the army. But then she told me that one of her colleague's first call was to rescue a moth caught under some person's windscreen wiper SERIOUSLY, beat that for a waste of time and money

What a nice genuine no bullshit 1st post young fella.............just grab a lamp and your dog and get out there.

Stop talking about anything except the weather with the RSPCA tit and that should see you about right..........remember, do not trust the RSPCA person.

Good luck and enjoy yourself..........

Thank you Sir, your advice seems sound and I'll follow it to the letter. And thanks too for everyone else who's taken an interest. I'll let you know how we get on......

So SHE isnt.........just had a look.

Anyway, the same applies...........is that you on the horse bron?

The horse in your picture looks very much like a Salle Francias x TB that I had once.........I fecking loved that animal.

Sadly, my wife got pregnant and the horse was not getting worked to its full potential so it had to go.
