sighthound1811 6
to be honest mate Most racing greyhounds Ive seen are game as. They have to be to chase a dummy week in week out. I have 1 at the minute and though she is not a slaughtering machine she does the job. I reared her from a pup though. Mate took a track dog huntin and it tortured him , they are not very bright i know what ye mean mate... mines a track dog and she is comin on nicely now but her retrievin and her jumping is non existant.. her running style is exciting or at least i find it so but she over runs a hell of alot... if your gettin an ex track dog then you will probably have to put up with alot of hardships at the start... mine used to run for the horizon as soon as i took my hand off her but i invested in a shock collar and it made miracles happen sounds like my greyhound your talking about... :11: Edited August 20, 2008 by sighthound1811 Quote Link to post
GarryN 5
I had an ex track dog and her only problem was no field craft, the best thing for the dog is dont run it if there is a chance of coming to grief as they have an excellent prey drive and will stop at nothing to get at the prey ripping skin and getting knocked up, they do harden off and then become a superb hunter usually with a good nose. A little warning watch them with sheep as they will chase anything that moves including the family cat. Good luck with him as he will be faithfull and very loyal.. Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
Be very careful what ground they run on, and keep an eye out for ditches and obstacles. Quote Link to post

Guest Zak
very true about them setling in. Get to know them as much as posible and do watch livestock, as they will kill all round, massive pray drive!!! I had a few in the past, 6 in all, only one made a real hunter, she was only 25'', sharp and took a good few hares, but she met her maker, whilst coursing a hare, she sadly, triped and hit a bank, at full speed, breaking her neck!!, she died doing what she loved best.
