Thanks for all your help, as I said before it is MUCH appreciated and I will take it all on board, I'll ask about, and do my own finding out on the best Airgun dealers in my area, wait 'til I get payed and take it from there, ask if I can hold a few, see if they feel oright to hold.. etc.

Also, with me being 17 still, will I need to go into a shop with an appropriate adult, I.e. 18 or over?

No worries. That's what we're here for! Let us know how you get on because we're probably just as eager as you are to get out in the field! :D

Picking the guns up will give you a feel for the one that is right for you. A decent selection will give you a better choice. Yeah you'll have to be with an adult. In this day and age they will probably ID you.

As already has been said. Lead free pellets near water so as not to poison the wildlife.

hi, mate, sorry didnt realise you werent including charging equip in the 600. why not get a good PCP gun like an S200 with a 10 shot uprade with a good scope and youll have change then you can buy more clothes lol. id seriously consider the s200 [bANNED TEXT], excellent gun for the money and not too much to spend as a beginer, like myself. I just spent 700 quid for a full set up, brand new with everything you could need.

feel free PM me if you want details etc.

Cheers,

Ryan

Oh yeah course, I won't ask you to recommend any decent one's because I assume it's all down to personal preference and what gun your firing them from, and I reckon' I've asked enough of you lot already lol.

im selling myne with loads of extras its only 3 months old mint condition still under warrenty gun+scope+gun sling+3 mags+spare buddie bottle+manuals&dvd+filling adaptor

you can have the lot for £450 and that leaves you enough to go get a diving bottle all under £600 job done :victory:

You'll be able to get something new, warrantied, and legal for that kind of money. I'd recommend getting into a gun shop and seeing a few of the items they have on sale. It'll give you a much better idea of what's on the market. You don't have to go PCP, a decent springer set up is worth considering especially if you've never shot before and it'll be much cheaper than a PCP set up.

Also if you're shooting over marsh land you might want to consider lead free pellets.

Sound advise.....

got my son the Air Arms S200, cracking rifle for the price, the older model is better though it is slightly ajustable enabling better tuning. Any 4x32 scope should do you as 50 yards isnt that far realy. Concentrate on a silencer and a 10 shot mag worth the money. .22 is a good alrounder and should give you 70 shots per fill, but the first 10 are a little unpredictable. After that it settles down and is consistent very accurate and above all lightweight. My boy hits Rabbits out to 45 yards no problem with his S200, Woodies Squirrels Ferals hes had them all.

Right, I have just got permission to shoot on a piece of land within spitting distance from my house, that's about 280 acres in size.

The terrain of the land varies from mostly short grassland to Marshy, boggy areas, to long grassland about waist height.

I'll be out shooting mostly mornings and evenings, but sometimes in the daytime, so a range of different times, from 5am - 9/10pm. (Any suggestions about what time is best, and what weather conditions are best are much appreciated, as I said I am new to all this)

I'm from East Yorkshire, have no previous shooting experience, other than messing about on a few cans when I was a few years younger with my mates .22.

My main target I'll be looking at shooting will be small vermin such as rats and rabbits.

I've done a little research, and ideally I'm looking for a mid-range rifle, (that can make a clean kill no problem, deep penetration is not really an issue as I won't be eating any of quarry) and a suitable scope that will suit all my needs.

I have a budget of about £600 give or take a few quid, that's for both the scope AND the rifle.

Any help is MUCH appreciated as always.

Cheers.

shouldnt shoot it if you dont want to eat it mate! except rats crows ect! best way to find the right gun is to try as many as possible! join a club as well and practice practice practice!
