Guest AngelicAcid
all the lads a know jab when pups and thats it !! Just pups as well, Ask the greyhound lads. would they let a 10000 quid dog get ill? To add if that was confusing i meant just pup jabs. Edited August 19, 2008 by AngelicAcid Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
My own vet said that it is not really necessary to boost them every year, though she did reccomend having the first puppy jabs then the first booster at about 14 months old. After that, providing the dog comes into regular contact with all sorts then it should be OK: obviously if a dog NEVER comes into contact with bugs and bacteria and other dogs then it's immune system won't be as strong. However, the leptospirosis jab doesn't give lifetime immunity so if your dog is regularly ratting or going near rat infested water/ditches etc it would be sensible to boost it with lepto only. We had an outbreak of Parvo many years ago, brought in by a rescue dog: NONE of my own dogs became really ill, though one or two did have the shits for a couple of days: and some of them were over 8 years old and had never been boosted. However, if I lived in an area where there was a lot of Parvo or Distemper I would seriously consider getting mine boosted on a regular basis. Quote Link to post
