Uncontrollable leg trembling in Terrier.

Recommended Posts

Ever since I've had him I've noticed his legs shaking when he's stood up.It's not very often it happens and it can be either the front or the rear legs but not both at the same time.

Usually it's when he's stood facing a rabbit or something catchable, but I've seen it happen when we are visiting freinds who he knows, off field. I doubt it's fear as he's a tough little fekker and as bold as they go.

If i grab hold of his legs it stops for a moment but when I let go it starts all over again.

The vets don't seem to know what it is as I mention each time.

Any of you guys experienced this?.

Has he got nuttal breeding in him? (dont start another slag off nuttal thred,i"m v happy with the dogs i own, that ive mixed his line with) only i have a bitch with the same front right leg, doesn"t hurt her or affect her in anyway, just shakes ELVIS style, she is out of a nuttal dog,may have nothing to do with it,just exchangeing views?

Thanks for the replies.

He is a Middleton bred dog, three years old now.As I say it doesn't happen all the time.

If it was excitement his wagging tail would be a good indicator to me,but it doesn't wag.

He's in no discomfort and my only concern, apart from that it is the beginning of something serious, is that he's giving away bad signs to any potential quarrey by shaking.

I had a Nuttal bitch that trembled all the time, she was a bit backwards too,i reckon it could have too closely bred

Yer thats a possibility waz, its a risk you take when you go close, mine not backward, excitable, till she in,then you get the payback from risking the close breeding"FIREWORKS" ,if ive gotta put up with a bit of leg shakeing to have a line of good honest workers then so be it.though if i find a suitable stud that has generations of good working blood in,that doesnt through big dogs a suitable outcross would be brought in

 She's making me tremble p***y...not sure if its for all the right reasons tho

She would make me more than tremble lol

But what the lad is talking about is different its a shakeing nothing to do with hunting, its like a nervous thing,am i right??

I agree with waz,i think its a close breeding thing, this happens in everyday life not just when goinghunting, she does more than just leg trembeling when hounds mark lol........... pre ban...

Ive just had a hand tremble looking at that photo. And it was lovely

my bitch trembles when you take her out and if shes shown she trembles but she aint nervous i think its just pent up energy shes 11 year old now and still does it wudnt worry about it and her breeding was a total out cross so not interbreeding that causes it
