Ferreting

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a ferret and would like to start ferreting with him but not sure where to start! I have tried to read as much information as I can on the internet but there is too much to asorb!

I just wondered if anyone on here might have sme advice/tips for me? Also, what type of ferret locator should I buy and where can I get one?

Thanks,

Jamie

hi jamie

to start with all you need is a basic bit of kit to make life easier,

a little waterproof box with a strap so you can carry it on your shoulder for your ferret

a medium size spade not to big to carry any one will do to start with

a few nets cheapest to start with

a locator and collar is best to have it will help you keep track of your ferret underground mark 1 or 2

some good gloves for bramble bushes

have a look in the for sale section on here you might find a bargain or some kind folk on here who have spare no longer used stuff might sell them cheap or give them to you free if you just pay postage ,good luck mate

When I started ferreting all I had was ten shitty nets a jill and a hob...NO locator!

If you don't have anyone to tag along with you must go it alone. Early morning start find a small bury well away from cover and stick your ferrets in...fecking great seeing those first bunnies bolt.. :clapper: I can still picture my first time. It's unlikely your ferrets will stay to ground long, assuming they're tyros like yourself.

Good luck and get stuck in...

And if you've a dog it's even better with out nets..
