Hi all, I am thinking about buying a scope. What type reticle do you prefer and why?

illuminated MIL dot for me edgar.

 

makes it easier for hold over and hold under at various ranges

I have always found the traditional 30/30 (which is a continuous cross hair, but the centre portion of it is finer than the outer portion) good enough for me, as a rule. I have learnt to judge holdover/under very well with this 'scope type. The 'scope in this case is a Simmonds WTC 3-9X40.

 

Having said that, I recently got a Leupold Mk4 3.5-10X40 LRT scope with mil dot reticule - i am having much pleasure working it out, with regards to the holdover/under and the mil dots. Although, i must admit that as i'm so used to doing the holdover/under with the 30/30 that i seem to revert to using that method with the Leupy! LMAO!

had the same trouble mate.......having used 30/30 since i was a boy.

 

but, it was good learning with the mil dots and i think ( hope) it has improved my quick aiming.

Depends on what type of shooting you will do most. I find mil dot better for long range shots on rabbits & pigeons etc, where I am concealed and have time to measure the shot accurately. I use the older type 30/30 for ratting and tree rats where I have to get the shot off faster and the range is shorter.

Yea I agree with sean, I find Mil dots Much better to use!! Practice with them at differant ranges on targets and then you know exactly where you are out in the feild!!

mill dots i would say its what i use i have just brought an

 

ags sapphire 3-9x50 and im well chuffed with it verry crisp great at night to you wont go far wrong with one of these

i use a mtc viper love the milldots on this sight once your used to it makes for fast targeting
