dare 1,103
Dog of mine is still acting fine and wanting to everything it normally does expect ive noticed his different on his rear right leg. Only thing i can think of is that i had the dog off the lead with another playing like mad although the dog didnt yelp and i didnt notice anything after that but apart from that its just been lead walkd. I dont know how to discribe how the leg is, he seems fine when walking at a decent pace but if he runs then you can notice it. Any ideas what it could be or any questions you want awnserd. Im just going to keep him on the lead for a week at least and only allow him to empty then bring him back in. Any ideas or what youd do then please let me know
redmoor 0
Could be a muscle/ligament strain..but could also be a partial tear of the cruciate. Rest is the best option..for at least a fortnight..if he seems in pain he should go to the vet who would give him an exam and some NSAIDs. Hope he's ok. Guest WILF
TAKE IT TO A VET!!!
dare 1,103
Id be the first person to take my dog to the vet at any site of pain but like i said he still wants to do everything, dog isnt limping on it just running on it slightly different, if it wasnt your dog you wouldnt even notice and if it was yours youd have had to of spent alot of time with it. Its that small, im going to rest him for 2weeks like i had pland and if no improvment then ill go to the vets but its not bothering the dog one bit he still is able to jump up on my bed and sleep and wants to run when i let it off the lead in the garden. It might not have f**k all to do with it being off the lead playing but thats the only thing that i could think of.
skycat 6,174
Take the dog to a GReyhound vet, not just an ordinary pet dog vet. Someone who is a trained osteopath, muscle and bone man: that it is the ONLY way to go!! What area do you live in? I know a few around the midlands area.
dare 1,103
going to rest him for 2weeks then if i still see it ill bring him to a vets. Not tight with money but i dont think its that serious of an issuse as the dog is fine and already 2days on the lead and he seems slightly better.

Not tight with money but i dont think its that serious of an issuse as the dog is fine and already 2days on the lead and he seems slightly better. If the dog has a torn muscle or ruptured tendon somwhere then it will be fine on the lead, but will affect it when running. Muscles take up to 6 weeks to heal, tendons up to 3 months. Keeping it on the lead for a fortnight will do nothing in terms of healing: and as soon as the dog runs it opens up the damage again and your'e back to square one: wouldn't it be better to get an accurate diagnosis now? The sooner you know what's causing the problem the sooner you can treat it correctly and get your dog back on the road to recovery.

AKA-BRINDLE 879
Dont sound bad enough to be a torn muscle or ruptured tendon...but impossible for me to give an accurate diagnosis as it probably would be for the vet...probably just strained ligaments...which is most likely what the vet will tell you and perscribe anti-inflammatories...if the dog is walking fine and still managing to run i would keep him to light lead walks for a couple a weeks as you already said and take it easy with him after that...steaming around with another dog can cause all sorts of minor muscle tweaks and strains...oh yeah and check his feet and pads...
