lymphosarcoma

Recommended Posts

my jill has got lymphosarcoma and i'm just wondering if this is common or not? its just in one year ive lost 3 ferrets so far and its my first year of keeping ferrets. (not all the same illness), One died from an ear infection and it even had treatment another had a gentetic problem and my jill has cancer

Just wondering if anyone else has had a bad year with ferrets dying etc? . its just anoying that you spend all that money on wood shavings, disinfectant, bedding, food, then the ferret gets ill just before september?

And also how old do ferrets have to be before you can take them ferreting?

depends on the ferret i think when you can work it, i try and always have older ferrets so im never in a rush to bring young ones on, and i wouldnt rush them, but i have a polecat hob kit here hes only 11 weeks and i weighed him hes 2 pound in weight! i know i could take him out soon as no rabbit would get away from him but i wont as i dont need to , try and pick up an adult ferret from somewhere mate if your wanting 1 for this season theres always someone giving away a ferret, and try to get another kit to bring on in the later part of this season or next season, good luck.

Sadly it was only thought to be ferrets in the USA that contracted conditions like this and adrenal , this link tells you about it , its an american publication but vets in the uk often draw from the Americans findings as lots of conditions are thought to be confind to the USA but thats not the case any more

Sorry to hear you little jill has this condition , but i hope some of the stuf in the link goes to explain the condition & the different forms of it

Im lucky as my ferrets dont necessarily lie up (touch wood) so i worked an 8 hole bury with 2 ferrets and purse nets and I think got 4 and know lie ups. some prefere big ferrets and some like small but ive always thought if you have a couple ferrets that dont lie up then you may aswell use them in a small burry as it gets the job done quicker and there aint as much waiting around. as for your bad luck, well bad luck mate and I hope you can find a nice couple ferrets for this season as I would have thought anyone who has heard your story would take pity on you and give you one or 2! anyway good luck in the future
