Guest scutt
Hi folks, Recently noticed a dead polecat on the roadside, this is not unusual as in this area(North Wales)as they were'nt persecuted as in other areas by Gamekeepers,I have noticed them on several occasions so apart from night time road accidents taking their toll, they seem to be on the increase. Has anyone caught one/kept one/crossed (bred)from one? your experiences please, thanks SCUTTT Quote Link to post
Jordan 1
I personally dont see the point in keeping or working polecats or breeding them with ferrets. At the end of the day it has took years to end up with the domesticated ferret which does its job well so why start again from scratch? Quote Link to post

I had one years back.. full on Polecat caught in the middle of the road when he was about 6 weeks old... never really got round to handling him proper as he was very very bad tempered... one thing I will say about wild polecats is they are a dam site cleverer and quicker than a normal ferret... never bred from him... [bANNED TEXT] anyone asks... Here he is... Quote Link to post

COMPO 54
WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT A WILD POLECAT (OR CROSS) it is like trying to put some zest into a lurcher by mating your greyhound to a wild wolf the ferrets in my garden do the job (or they wouldn't be in the garden) they are different colours but all have been domestic ferrets as far back as there ancestry can be traced, if anyone disagree's i will sell them a wolf cross greyhound to take ferreting with their wild polecat Quote Link to post

Hi what do you think about keeping a baby polecat in the same cage as a baby ferret of the same age ( 7 months) Quote Link to post
