shall i bite the bullet then lads ive no luck finding a lurcher of here .shall i go to hancock or hang on abit i would consider other x but no bull up to 5/6 months old

hi i went to hanCOCK had problem with the training so gave him a bell for advice before i could finish what i had to say he said if it,s your money back your to late i thought he was an ok bloke but that changed my mind pronto if you want a dog go to a dog man not a farmer i wish you all the best

 

 

Perhaps that answers the whole Hancock thing? Alot of the people who buy from him can't actually train a dog? Not haveing a personal dig but I think

that is the case with alot of the failures. You admit that you were having trouble training the pup but why call the breeder? Now hancock is a ---- and all hancock dogs are shite? If you had no training issues hancock would be great.

 

Sometimes people need to look closer to home me thinks

i have trained a few gun dogs in my time with good results plus whippet crosses with results i was proud of i drove from inverness area to choose the bitch and two weeks time went back down to pick her up .this is the fist collie bred i have trained after all the time and money i spent i thought the man could shine some light on the matter for me after all i would do same for anyone yes it is all up to me to train the dog but all i asked for was some help i do not no it all but i do try best for the dog sorry if i have offended you or anyone else but i was very offended by hancocks after sale service

 

No offence mate but if your looking to train a lurcher to the same standard as a gundog your in the wrong game! Lurchers were way back at the end of the que when brains were dished out

mate your way back at the end ov the que for brains,i keep 5 lurchers and i need them all cause im bang at it come winter and roughing up in summer.most ov my bitches id put into gun dog triles.give your mouth a chance feller,i got terriers that will retrive winged duck from water.

puppy farmer!!!!!!! most other people breed for themselves and to have there own line not for proffit ,why you gota try justyfy a puppy farmer??? you must have one of his dogs?? :wallbash:his dogs have put people off the collie x as a good working lurcher,iv bred a line of my own,all from working dogs and iv restored faith in peoples opinion of collie xs after the only ones they'v ever seen are from a puppy farm from none working dogs.!!!

i bort an acd last week to breed into my lurcher lines as they seem just the hard clever little thing i need to widen my gene pool and keep the kur type line going,after getting it home and spending a few days with it found it to be exactly what i wanted.then another man told my of another bitch,i went to have a look and found its living conditions less than good.i felt sorry for it ,bort it and wormed it gave it as much as it could eat and i now have two very smart little dogs one 18 months with papers(means nothing to me as i breed lurchers)the other two years without,unfortuneatly i am unable to keep both long term for space reasons(I LIVE IN A COUNCIL HOUSE AND AM PUSHING IT ALREADY) so is there anyone out there would like the chance to own one of these little demons? i paid 200 for each of them and do not want a proffit,just a good home.thanks

If you aint got room for your 2 pretty little cattle dogs, and youve got the housing agents on your back, what's it gonna be like when you have a litter of 9 or so pups! If youre gonna keep 1 or 2 yaself, then from you say about your space situation, your gonna have to palm a couple of your 5 exsisting lurchers on to someone else

 

You are exactly the sort of person that has put me off of buying privately from someone I don't know.

me myself live in a council house i also have 5 dogs .and most certainly wouldnt go out to buy 2 more if i didnt intend keeping them for the rest of their days .

when you take a dog on atleast it should stay with you regardless of its downfalls .

thats why we see so many dogs on the market getting passed around.most buy before thinking.and you should no wether its going to stay or go if its going to go theirs no point in buying it.and iam quite sure that hancock dosnt buy stock to resell it will be pts then incinerated and what better way to end a life rather than going from home to home not knowing where it will be next.

I think as usual the Hancocks thread has caused arguments and disputes between forum members,and over the usual points.My take on this is simple,why we may not agree with Mr Hancocks methods,its wrong to slate the working ability of all the dogs he's bred.I have a Hancocks bitch here (retired) that i took on after my brother split with his wife,While she was no world beater at any one discipline,as an all rounder i'd have matched her against most dogs no question.Another Hancocks dog that a friend mine owned in the early 90's was as he described "the best f*cking fox dog ive ever owned" the guy has been at the game for over 30 years so has a good idea what he's talking about,and he would pay any price to have another dog as good.Another forum member who i have taken out with me on a couple of occasions,has a young Hancocks dog who is making a promising start.

I would never promote Hancocks methods of breeding,and would rather people spent there money elsewhere,but his dogs seem to do the business,and have for a number of years.Its supply and demand,if they were as bad and hopeless as the knockers make out (most of the knockers have never owned one by the way) he'd be out of business!

Maybe there should be a "tales of failed Hancocks dogs" thread.
