Guest markbrick1
Despite winning a first and a third myself (well, my dogs did) I have to say I thought the judging at Tatton was inexplicable at times.......... over the years i have supported lurcher world but cant understand why most judges are so inexperananced about lurchers who judge for them, a lot of people travell a long way only to be judged by the same folk since i am not into the showing side its never bothered me but if i showed my dogs on a serious note i would be pissed of,mark

Strong Stuff 2,171
Despite winning a first and a third myself (well, my dogs did) I have to say I thought the judging at Tatton was inexplicable at times.......... I didn't win anything where there was more than 1 in a class ............ Would agree with the above comment, although at the risk of being seen as a bad sport, it certainly seemed to be that if you were in the Lurcherworld clique/club then you won, the biggest example of that being the judge for the earlier classes (Lurcher) won the best in show trophy!!!! And as for the "Best WORKING Lurcher" class ............ a huge white fluffy thing won it, the only place that's "seen" anything is on YouTube!!!! All that said though, it was still an enjoyable few hours out, and miles better value than the show today (Monday) at Chetwynd park Shrops, £10 to get in, and same thing with the show, if you weren't in their gang you got nuffink, I wouldn't bother with either show again next year. Scallywag, was that you that I spoke to?

(OK they are bred for a purpose but still not pedigree). It used to be fun to show a lurcher, a place to meet people, talk B****cks and have a laugh, half of em haven't even seen a rabbit or anything else let alone chased it. Those lot at that type of show seem to think it's Crufts in the park. Plenty of decent shows for working dogs around, and plenty of bollocks gets chatted, guess the answer is to do independant shows only, swerve the Lurcherworld type, it's all about their club not the dogs. Scallywag 78
Oi monkeychops! Watch what you say about women I spoke to a lot of people Strong Stuff but maybe you? Saw a few of dogs wearing what I thought was your handywork there! The thing about showing is that even if it's just a bit of fun I think it should be seen to be fair. This morning when they announced the working dog class they actually said your dog didn't have to work to enter Having said all that, the lurcherworld people were very friendly and worked bloody hard all weekend, I got some useful feedback from one of the judges and I had a lot of fun, so overall I'm not complaining. But I really could not understand some of the decisions made at all.

I am the large bald bloke, bright blue t shirt, black bull x pup and a stafford, obviously both wearing my collars!
Scallywag 78
I don't think we spoke then but I remember your dogs - I was with friends who have recently got themselves a bull x and we were eyeing them all up. Nice dogs you've got! Meant to say before, they seemed to be having trouble getting entrants to the terrier classes - don't know if that was true but it was the impression I got. Don't know where all the terrier men had got to?
