Guest gaz100604 Posted August 13, 2008 Report Share Posted August 13, 2008 Ive just come back from a day out at exeter horse sale, i go most months to the sales but today over half the lots went unsold !!! and what did sell went for very low prices. Evrey body was saying its the credit crunch and nobody has got any money. It' s hitting hard in some sectors already- I repair stone buildings, and my customers are wealthy people. I had a full order book of work well into next year, but now agreed and confirmed jobs are being canceled. If the better off people in society are thinking 'we' ll put the work off for another year' because they are worried about money, that tells me there is trouble ahead. The boss of a firm of general builders was complaining to me that the competition on subcontracting public works is getting so tight that it isn't worth doing, and that the 'busy fools' have started the silly undercutting on private jobs already.
