Kye 77
Having been working alot recently, and not getting the dogs out as much as possible (end of season for us here anyway realy) i decided to have a quick spin out with the three Staghounds, the Lakeland (Bricca) and one of the wifes White bitches.. Got out the truck, and had the two Stag bitches on leash, the Male (Blister) hunting loose with the two terriers... All of a sudden, Blister is off at full pelt, eating up the ground....i look ahead of him, and instead of seeing a hare or rabbit, its a bloody Bobcat!...im guessing it was out sunning itself, as its only the third one i have seen in the daytime, and although there are lots around here, you usulay see them at night on the lamp, or when calling.. Anyway, Bricca being raised with running dogs, new the craic and she is always looking at them...she knows that when they are off and going, then summat is at the end of it!..lol. So Blister runs this thing, turns it once, and almost picked it up...but the result was a huge cloud of dust and a Bobcat diving into a HUGE rock pile... Blister, was trying his best to crawl into the rocks, and i was being dragged along at high speed buy to Stags on leash going fecking nuts!....the wifes white bitch had followed but, being only 10", she had jumped down a wash, and couldnt get out...thats them pussy white dogs for yah!..lol.. Anyway, Bricca was about 20 yards away from the rock pile, and the situastion all of a sudden, just dawned on me...Bobcat in a rock pile, terrier running towards rock pile, no collor on, and no digging gear... Of course she flew in there!!! So i get there, and tie the two bitch to some thick old sage, but then start thinking..."Feck me, if it bolts it would be a shame not to run it!"...so i let them off, and tied the white bitch up... So i stick my headin the rock pile and i can hear Bricca pushing on and whinning...so then she lets out a deep growl and then nothing....then all hell brakes loose, and she is clearly got hold of the BC...i can hear her tugging away, like she was trying to draw it, but she must have had it buy the arse, coz she is not one to take a lot of pain!...i guessing the Cat spins around, and gives her what for, because she lets out a yelp, and starst a frantic baying, and i can hear a realy pissed off sound coming from the bobcat... Now what the feck do i do?... The stags are going nuts, the white bitch is screaming her head off and its starting to get warm out... Lucky for me they are doing construction on the road not far away, so i go over and start asking these Mexican guys for a spade or a bar, or a fecking miracle!...lol. So theres me, English born and raised, saying to these guys..."El doggo, in el hole-o, with a fecking big El Gato"..lol... As soon as i said Gato, they new what i was on about!...lol. The foreman comes over (white guy) and asks what the hell is going on...once i explain, he says he will come over and have a look...so we drive over to the rock pile, and we can clearly hear the dog going at it inside.. First thing this bloke says is.."Shit man, thats the wildest things i ever did see!"..lol.. He tells me one of his lads, his dad is a trapper, and he often has a .22 in the truck, and that they would help me get the dog out!... I tell them, im going home, to get a bar, and some spades, and to get the collar (B&F) incase i have to put another dog in to get a better place to start digging.. the bloke says he is gonna get his JCB over and start moving the rocks and stuff!...i couldnt beleave it...so i drive home (about 45 minutes) all the way home im thinking "Feck, i hope they dont shoot the cat while the dogs still down there and the bullet bounces around etc"...or that they crush the dog with the digger and boulders etc.. So i get home, phone the lass, and tell what the hells going on, and grab some gear and head on out there again... I get there, and there about 7 blokes, and a very tired, very bloody lakeland, rapped in a towel!... I asked what had happened and they said they had broken through and shone a torch down, and they could see that the Cat was one side of a crack and there was a 10" gap that the bitch kept darting back and forth...when they shone the light down there, the cat freaked out and tryed to run out the rocks past Bricca...but appparently she didnt want that to happen!..lol.. She some how had grabbed the cat buy the front leg and then the cat thought better of it so it got back into the rocks...then they shot the cat between the shoulder blades, and thats when the fun started!...im sure the cat was dead, because as i have said before, this bitch is one of the softest terriers i have ever seen, and although she can handle herself, she is far from hard... So they got them out, and the guy whos dad is the trapper had taken the cat home for his dad!...cheeky fecker i thought, to be honest!... But all i was glad about was that the bitch stayed until dug too, and although now missing a bit of her nose and her muzzle is slashed to hell, she is quite happy with herself!..lol. Shes seems to be impressing me more and more everytime she is out!... She was in the rocks roughly two hours...and it was 65F.. Thanks,,.. Kye,.. Quote Link to post

Kye 77
I dont know what a harder dog would have done mate?... Maybe it would take more or maybe because it would be more comited, it would take less?.. All i know is that Bricca has a weird shaped nose, and is minus a fair bit of muzzle at the moment!...she has cleaned up nice though...them claws are HORRIBLE though!...when i say right to the bone, i mean it!...Ouch!... We will se in the future what a harder type will do Taffy!... The guys said that it was roughly 20 odd pounds...when i seen it running, i would have said about that, so it would be good to see what a 40-50lb one would be like!... All the best guys!.. Kye,..
