mackem 26,893
Nice read, well done.Come back to us in another few sessions and I'll bet you've got the carbon back out . I see it time and time again some of my customers trying their luck with the old split cane, doesn't last long mind, heavy old buggers those split canes. It's a bit like driving an old motor, the novelty factor is there to start with but after a few goes it like where's the PAS and the servo assisted brakes. Any way good luck MC Lee,you old pessimist you, besides, get with the times, you come back when you've got the graphite back out Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
I know what you meen about the weight but i feel the pros outweigh the cons, pardon the pun. Ive used a centre pin reel whilst trotting for roach for about 20yrs now and i love the control it gives you, same with the larger reel whilst pike fishing. It seems old school is in my blood as this is a old style perch bob i made last year Its made from a piece of old long net hazle pole, carved whilst pike fishing Edited August 13, 2008 by mole catcher Quote Link to post

leegreen 2,180
I got my first rod in 1973, it was 12' 3 peice and the first section was gold anodised ally with a cork handle, the rest was glass fibre with brass fittings and the first and last eye's were brown glass. Can't remember the make it was, my reel was a Shakespear 2002. Centerpin's all the way for trotting they are the best Quote Link to post

moocher 0
Great write up, love the kelly Kettle! I do nearly all my fishing with the centrepin. I will have to sort some pictures out to put up. It really is proper fishing. Stuff that sitting in a bivvy for weeks on end waiting for an alarm to scream off, it has no soul! I should know, I spent 15 years doing it! Now its Pin fishing all the way. Again, Great write up. Moocher Quote Link to post
