is my lurcher marking?

i took my 15 month whip x bed out earlier as i walked thru the wood letting her hunt up she vanished as i found her she was sniffing inside a rabbit hole and went through each one and found about 7 holes but never barked or anything?

 

was it luck?

It depends on the dog. Each dog marks in a different way, there are no hard and fast rules.

 

When she acts in a certain way consistantly, you can take this to mean she's marking.

 

My Brittany will sniff round, then sit and stare at a hole.Others will look at the hole, then at the handler, then back at the hole etc.

 

So it does depend on the dog. Look at her carefully when she's around a warren and try to pick up on the slightest movements/actions she displays.

 

She'll let you know some how!

Bloody hell mate if my dog barked down a rabbit hole to mark i wouldn`t be to happy you will learn the dogs style in how it will mark my beddy cross will mark a rabbit by stareing at the hole then looking at me i know exactly what the score is..If it`s a fox she`l try and push on and enter the earth or maybe scratch about the entrance your`ll learn and so will the dog mate but believe me a bark aint a good mark in my eyes......
