The Ferret 0
It depends on the dog. Each dog marks in a different way, there are no hard and fast rules. When she acts in a certain way consistantly, you can take this to mean she's marking. My Brittany will sniff round, then sit and stare at a hole.Others will look at the hole, then at the handler, then back at the hole etc. So it does depend on the dog. Look at her carefully when she's around a warren and try to pick up on the slightest movements/actions she displays. She'll let you know some how! Ferret Quote Link to post
Royston2 0
Bloody hell mate if my dog barked down a rabbit hole to mark i wouldn`t be to happy you will learn the dogs style in how it will mark my beddy cross will mark a rabbit by stareing at the hole then looking at me i know exactly what the score is..If it`s a fox she`l try and push on and enter the earth or maybe scratch about the entrance your`ll learn and so will the dog mate but believe me a bark aint a good mark in my eyes...... DiStuRBeD 0
your going to have to ferret that warren, no point having a dog that marks an empty warren, dont encourage the dog to mark any hole, they will false mark Quote Link to post
Guest Dale
isnt it to late to ferret the warren now though? Quote Link to post
