Simoman 110
There is no mention in any of his books of any GSD blood in his lurchers, all collie based. Quote Link to post
MATTI 34
In the book ''Merle'' one of Brian's freind's had an Alsationx that was the same age as Merle, i'm fairly sure he never actually owned or bred Alsationx's, even though he had some top bred Alsation,s on his premises. pigeonphill 69
plummer discribed penguin, fathoms dam as a mongrelly type of beast in the book diary of a hunter and goes on to say he contemplated disposing of fathams blood-line and keep a pure breeding collie/greyhound bloodline but did not want to part with fathoms family as they were true lurchers, sagacious, cunning and great providers ,also saying in merle the start of a dynasty she was a kannechor~a chicken thief, hope this helps Quote Link to post
mackem 26,767
I wonder if anyone still keeps dogs from this line?Even diluted with other blood? Quote Link to post

Then in another he says she was a mongrel, see what I mean about them being bred different depending which book you read. In Merle he says he was an indifferent rabbiter and bloody useless on hares so why start a line from him unless it was a colour or ego thing like his terriers. Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,485
Does anyone off here know any of the characters mentioned in his books, surely some were made up like his protege Michael Shaw who saw Plumber as his friend and mentor for some 18 years when he wrote his terrier book Quote Link to post
Boojet 0
think the book was rogues and running dogs or merle , fathom was very inbred collie line so i believe all the best Quote Link to post
mackem 26,767
Wasnt he trying to breed a plummer-lurcher type line, and farming the pups out to friends? Quote Link to post
