Theres this river that i fish at which holds a few pike and theres a bridge with a bit of a waterfall under it i was looking down in the river and saw 2 carp look alike fish but they were quite long and didnt look thick enough for big carp and it is a river, and where these fish were you can see the bottom of the river bed thats why i thought they were barbel one of the fish looked about 10-15 lbs so i tried ledgering with worms and within 15 mins the spool went rocketing of so i struck and there was a fish on the end but the first thing it did was head straight down into some roots so i lost it lol i saw a glimpse of the fish and it was bronze coloured just wondering if it could have been a barbel becuase thats one fish that i would love to catch :D

either that or a big chub they tend to head for the roots and snags
