Just wait for it to rain then once it is dark go on the grass with a torch you will get the biggest worms you have ever seen mate try this web site www.wormcity.co.uk/shop/executive-wormery-p-39.html Quote Link to post
mackem 26,710
Forget rain, you can actually get worms out of the ground with electricity if you know how,as many as you need Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
for lobs you will struggle making an wormery. best method: go out in the drizzle with torch, pull them up. store then in a fridge in wet newspaper. last ages. i have used other methods, but if you dont hand pick them they dont seem, to last long . Aled 504
When i lived in Cardiff a great place to get worms after heavy rain was from the soil between the cracks in the pavement, or close to the wall or at the base of urban trees. They were easy to see in the orange street lamps. Would suggest you wear garden gloves though dog mess a potential hazard. I was once asked by a Policeman what i was doing crouched next to a primary school wall at 11pm in a waterproof cammo jacket. Thankfully one of the policemen was a barbel angler and impressed with my worm collection! This may sound like a joke but i promise you its not. I'll be out one the pavements one night this week getting some worms for salmon fishing. I like to keep em in damp newspaper with a small aoumt of moss in a cool place. Works for me. bigbulls 26
Before the novelty of spending £150 a season to fish a strech of the Fowey for Salmon and Sea Trout wore off, i used to lamp for my worms as mentioned above. I accidently discovered that " fairy-up liquid" produced more worms than i knew what to do with, i was good at getting lobs but not so hot at getting the fish!!!! Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
Before the novelty of spending £150 a season to fish a strech of the Fowey for Salmon and Sea Trout wore off, i used to lamp for my worms as mentioned above. I accidently discovered that " fairy-up liquid" produced more worms than i knew what to do with, i was good at getting lobs but not so hot at getting the fish!!!! Fairy liquid. Yes, it works, but its bad for two reasons. #1, it kills the grass and will take ages to regrow. #2 the worms cannot be stored for long as they will eventually die having come in contact with it. Even if you try to wash them in clean water this will not help. Best method is the torch. JD Quote Link to post
mackem 26,710
You can actually get 2000 volt worming machines stateside, professional machines for bait-collectors,but the yanks always have to be bigger and better than us,thats cool.Get a telephone magneto, one of the old style crankers, attach four metal rods, sink them into pre-soaked ground, and crank them up Quote Link to post
