mattydski 560
I thought they were done away with as well, except in scotland, but i think thats a game license, i.e. to shoot, not to sell?? Found this Matt Game Dealers Licence Dealing or Selling Game is a licensable act e.g. Butchers must hold a licence issued by the Local Authority if they want to sell game. The sale of game is governed by the Game Act 1831 and the Game Licences Act 1860. You may only sell game to a licensed game dealer, unless you hold a game dealers licence, or it is for consumption on the premises e.g. the sale of game in a restaurant. A licence holder may buy game from any person who is licensed to sell it. Definition of Game Game is defined as: Hares; Pheasant; Partridge; Grouse; Heath or Moor game; Deer; Woodcock; Snipe; and Rabbit. Wild fowl are not classed game and trading in them is not restricted by the game laws. Licences Two licences are required before you are legally allowed to sell game: * a licence under section 18 of the the Game Act 1831; and * an excise licence under section 14 of the Game Licences Act 1860 Game Dealers Licence under section 18 of the Game Act 1831 This licence is issued by the Local Authority i.e. Corby Borough Council. An application from must be completed and returned to the Environmental Health Section with the appropriate fee, currently £28.00. Once this application is received the Local Authority will determine whether to issue the licence under the above Act and it may be necessary to inspect you premises and/or game larder. This licence is renewable annually. This is obtainable from the Post Office on presentation of the Local Authority Licence referred to above and costs £4.00. This licence is also renewable annually. Note: Where an applicant has more than one premises, although a licence under the Game Act 1831 is needed for each premises, only one licence is needed under the Game Licences Act 1860, no matter how many premises are involved. Licence to kill game – Gamekeepers Licence There is also a Gamekeepers Licence, which is available from the Post Office. This is an annual licence which expires on 31 July and costs £4.00. A gamekeeper required to kill game, whose employer takes out a licence for him does not require a licence, but otherwise, he must obtain a licence himself. A Gamekeepers Licence is only valid on land on which his employer has the right to kill game and it remains in force only while he is so employed.
