Guest JAGDWERKS
JAGDWERKS is right. If the coon gets in a place that he has the upper hand he dish out some punishment when a terrier can't get over the top on them. Have some nasty shit in their mouth too, I've still got Finn on antibiotics and compressing his muzzel three weeks after taking bites trying to clear up some kind of crud. Taffy, Finn ( the rough coat) was a gift to me as an 9 week old pup from DF when I was over there two years ago and I thank Dave every time we speak. He is a great dog around other dogs and people and is all about the chomp when he is on the hunt. He has a good sized boiler room so there are many sets over here he can't get in but when does fit you are digging for sure. Coby, (the smooth coat) is a Patt bred in the U.S. with a bunch of Mason and Nuttall stuff in his pedigree. He is a work-a-holic too. Dillon, West Virginia has alot of quarry in the ground like much of the northeastern U.S. I'm in California so The east coast is about the same flight time for me as it would be for you coming out of Heathrow. Haggler I use "Novasan" ointment for healing lacerations...to me,it's the best thing out! JAGDWERKS thanks jagdwerks, about the coon info, could do with some over here, sounds like they fight like hell, well done. I'll post a few pics of my Jagds on coon...They can get up to 30-35lbs! Guest Haggler
I thought it was Kobe that done the work, then you let Finn have a look!?...Good pics.. Kye,.. We dug for 5 days Kye. One dig it was all the bus, Kobe never left the truck. Haggler Quote Link to post
Guest Haggler
In the first pic i can see a little smooth pat in the back that looks like it had been to ground looks a nice size and more suitable for those earths did you dig to that dog in the back of the pic at all that day mate looks a nice type......... That's Jeff's dog Kobe. We have hunted him for several years. He is not a small dog either but is spannable. Kobe worked all the tight earths and accounted for three of the 5 coons we got that week plus a dug in groundhog at 5 feet. Here are some pics of him from the week. Now if it was just about getting everywhere and to everything all the time I would have flown this little bitch back, but she stayed home. Hell, it was $400 round trip for Finn on Continental and my ticket was only $218! Throw Carbon on the plane in cabin and there would be another $200. Jeff and I put some new fuel tanks in Larry's old Ford truck while we there and always help out with groceries. I figure Finn's two coons cost just about $700 a piece. No worries though, some Americans spend twice that much just to fly back and take pictures of the leaves in the Fall. Carbon, all 9 pounds. Haggler Quote Link to post

Kye 77
Good do Haggler.. I thought that Kobe was dug to, and lost his grip on a coon, and it went up the pipe six foot,so you let the Finn dog in to have a look... Finn looks a good size... Kye,.. Quote Link to post

Finn looks a good size... Kye,.. Yeah, that was day two and Finn had never seen a coon yet. Kobe was pulled when he and the coon broke off but we could have left him in until the second dig but when asked politley he agreed that his buddy Finn should be allowed to have a look. Here is what you will find when you have dug enough U.S. earths, many times the quarry will make a stand well away from a stop end, usually at a tight turn, and when dug to the whole shit house mess will move further into the set. One thing I never do is judge a man or his dog until I have dug with them personally. Haggler Quote Link to post
Kye 77
To true Haggler... I havent a terrier worth feeding at the momet, but at the present i live in an area where there is no point in having one...no need to have a kennel full of dogs if you cant work them how they need/should be worked imo... but thanks to some real good lads, that will be changing shortly...plus i will be living in an area where i can test a dog how it should be tested, which will be nice...As for things moving up pipes when you break through, that can happen in ANY country, where a dog goes to ground and faces quarry...nothing to do with the country its in, its the dog down the hole!...lol...and to a certain degree the quarry... As for "judgeing" someone elses dog, i would never do that...i dont keep it, feed it, or pick its shit up, so its not my place to do that...the only person my dogs have to please, are me and my digging partner. As for judgeing people, thats a little harder...a dog will act how he acts, infront of his owner or a stranger...they are what they are...people can be deceitful, and hide there true colours in a cloak...making things harder. Its realy best to just surround yourself with good people of a like mind that you already know...that way you dont get let down... Keep up the good work, i hope them dogs continue to work for you as well as they can!...look forward to some more pics in the future!.. Kye,.. Quote Link to post
